Re: Leaving Nokia for life if no Flash 10.1 for N900
I feel it makes little sense to shoot yourself in the foot, which is what happened here if the flash-on-N900 thing was as simple as initially hinted (remember, there is actually no proof Flash 10 for the N900 ever existed - the site they demoed on the Adobe conference works on Flash 9, too). Forget the user-side whining and think like a ruthless corporate decisionmaker. Your flagship N97 can't get it, your upcoming hot model, the N8 can't get it, so you choose to omit it from your ONLY model that actually already HAS Flash and also the one that has been demoed on the Adobe conference, and one that is coincidentally one of your most expensive devices. The loss of not having it is obvious, but what are you gaining from not having it ? Some will say they are protecting the harmattan device, but that one is at least 6 months away, known to be nothing revolutionary in terms of hardware, and by the time it comes out (at least according to Adobe) Android, BlackBerry and S60 will already have Flash, so it's not exactly news. That's why I say it makes no sense for Nokia not to support it if it is as simple to do as Adobe says. Not because they are extremely kind, or because they care, or because people whine, b!tch and moan about it on a community forum, but because it makes no sense from a strictly business perspective.

@kyleric81: You do yourself and everybody a favor by leaving. You get a phone which better matches your needs and others are left alone, with the device and community they love. Just one advice, buy a device which will get Flash 10.1 for certain, or you will probably have to copy&paste your previous posting to some android forum.

Has any Nokia phone ever gotten more than a dot revision to the (included at purchase) Flash player?

@wmarone
He doesn't. He also didn't bother to capitalize, use grammar or check facts. The only visible tearing I see is for browser in portrait, and it's been greatly reduced in 1.2, as it's been a beta hidden feature in 1.1, and we kind of expected it not to work. I normally hate people who say this but I'll take the flak: Does "I'll %s if %s" really belong in a platform forum? Relocate or rename? Can we have an Off-topic/Rant forum where everyone can vent? |

The reasoning behind this WONTFIX was basically that it would need SGX driver update and this would be too hard to test :rolleyes: |
Re: Leaving Nokia for life if no Flash 10.1 for N900
My single biggest complaint against nokia at this point is their PR or lack thereof, especially in regards to the N900...
Why can't they just issue a brief quip about the security fix for this? Or even make use of the numerous unofficial channels available for them if try can't make any official statements about it. |
