Location for desktop shortcuts/bookmarks/launchers/menu-items...

Hi all,

This is my first post, and a very desperate one if I may say so myself.

I have searched high and low, at least accordingly to my abilities, and so far I have not found any information about it on *.maemo.org or Google.

What I am trying to do is to create a shortcut on the desktop.
Yes, I know you will find that information here:
http://wiki.maemo.org/Application_Menu
and here:
http://wiki.maemo.org/Desktop_file_format

If it were a shortcut for an application, that would be fine; but it is for a bookmark.
Yes yes, I know how to do that, but I really do not like the big thumbnail it creates. I prefer the one that the applications use.

And yes, I have tried to copy the ovi.desktop file and edit it to my liking, but for some reason it did not load the page; nor did it load any page I entered in the address-bar.

I know I can create a shortcut with the following exec:
browser --url=https://twitter.com
But if it only would not open that pesky bookmarks page.

I have located the folder for thumbnails if you only create a shortcut for an url in the MicroB browser; but still I have not been able to locate the folder where that .desktop (or what ever it is called) or configuration file is.

Any help would be much appreciated.
If you need any info from me that might help, please let me know.

Thanks!

Edit:

I did try this, but it did not work. Rebooted, created a new one, added a new icon, rebooted and it works.

Still a bit curious where they have hidden bookmark shortcuts.

How can be created a desktop launcher, specifying the custom command to run?
Where is the Desktop folder?

I was looking for the same and spent a fruitless few hours grepping thru the GBs in my /home/user. Turns out that some of the settings are stored in that abomination know as gconf:

Creating a desktop launcher

The following worked for me. Creating a file called /usr/share/applications/hildon/test-radio.desktop with this content:

Code:

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Name=test with radio
Comment=I'm trying
Exec=FMRadio
Icon=general_gmaps
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=System;TerminalEmulator;
X-HildonDesk-ShowInToolbar=true
#X-Osso-Service=xterm
X-Osso-Type=application/x-executable

After this, I've add a direct access to the desktop and this one is in the list by "test with radio".
