Video should play in the format (standard or widescreen) in which it is recorded. In the camera app you can change the recording format to HIGH 16:9, LOW 4:3, or FINE 4:3. Since PR1.2 I cannot play any video recorded on the device in 16:9 unless I use PAL, but I can play those recorded in 4:3 in either PAL or NTSC.

Tks! But I think I didnīt make my self clear.

For example: All the screens are always shown in 4:3 format, and also the videos. Even those videos that were recordered in 16:9 format, and all the films and series that Iīve downloaded.

If you put your TV in widescreen mode, you can see that the image is stretched, and if you change it for 4:3, the image is shown perfect.

Havenīt you noticed that?

I am having problems in TV out also, when I insert the tvout cables there is no notifications for tv out. i have reflashed my phone with new emmc and rootfs pr 1.2. still same problem. it was working well with pr 1.1. any solutions out there?

Yes I've got the same with videos in 16:9, recorded in the N900 itself. Those in 4:3 all seem to play fine.

Now, it seems the Video portion of tv-out doesn't work for me anymore. I can say for sure that it is a software issue as it was working last week. Since then I installed Easy Debian and Android 2.2 and now only sound works via TV-Out. Also, I have Titans OC Kernel installed and OC to 850Mhz. I think the TV-OUT drivers/settings were messed up/mixed up within all the Kernels and OSes that I have. Oh, and I am using PR1.2 AFTER using the leaked firmware. Who knows what is messed up.

Either way, does anyone know a xterm command to update the TV-out driver or settings?

what a downer..i was showing off my phone to people (mostly family) this weekend. everything works, showed some pictures, bounce game etc and they're like "ooh" "ahh" ...then when i tried to play videos taken with the n900, only the sound part works, no video whatsoever. this worked before when i tested the tv-out after updating to 1.2, its not anymore :( (
they're like "so much for a $600 phone" lol)

Any updates on this problem? I've also been trying out play some 16x9 (848x480) video I recorded with my N900 through the TV out (NTSC) with no luck. Even on a widescreen TV. I hadn't tried it at all before the PR1.2 update. Even if the video is higher resolution then then the screen, I don't see why it downscales it to play on the device screen just fine, but can't downscale it to play through the TV out.

The videos i record on my n900 dont show with tv out, only sound comes out...but all my shows that i watch on my n900 and sd card dont have a prob what so ever... can anybody help with this prob?

The problem is PAL and NTSC. If your TV is PAL then set it to PAL otherwise you'd only hear the sound with black screen.

Go to settings, TV and change the settings to NTSC for North America, for Europe change it to Pal.
