How to add new folder in menu Maemo 5 PR1.2?

Hello,

I have just upgraded my Nokia N900 firmware to the official PR1.2 (i'm in the UK). In the 1.2 update the 'More' folder is non-existant and all the apps are on the main menu. Here is where I am confused. How do I create a new folder to sort my apps? I want to be able to create a folder for games and apps... I tried touching an icon for a long time, and all I could do was change its location on the main menu. There was no way (well i think) to create a new folder. If anyone can help, i would appreciate it. THANKS.

Btw, I did try the new userguide which was on the phone, but I couldn't find what I w as looking for.

Yh. I did use Catorise before the update. But then, there was no real point in removing the More folder was there? They added a feature (change the order of apps) but then I would say allowing us, users, to create folders would be much more useful.

I seem to remember the HK software preview showing folders. Is it really not possible to create folders in the menu?

It was never included in any release. There is a hack for it however.

exactly... well i dont think the feature of creating new folder is there because i cant find it. the user guide isn't much help either... have to use catorise or edit the /etc/xdg/menus/hildon.menu file.... personally, i think it should be integrated into the UI (maybe it is, but i can't find it)

well it might be there, but i can't seem to find it or figure out how to do this via the UI...

long press menu icons lets you rearrange icons, thats good enough for me, never liked the look of catorise

But personally i think it's not much use, when you can;t put them into folders. All apps which were once in the 'More' folder are in the main application menu. You can rearrange them, but not put them into custom folders. It is an attempt to allow us customise the application menu, but not good enough I reckon.

I think there is an app called MyMenu which can do this.

Yes. It is more or less the same as catorise. But it's not good enough to leave this simple basic feature out of the UI.

I know where you're coming from, only organising icons is just not good enough, even my first symbian could do that !

The long menu press after pressing done just reverts back to previous arrangement, changes won't stick for me...

"<name>" must match the "<menuname>" from the 'hildon.menu' file.
in the "<Include>" section you add the names of the '.desktop' files you want that that specific menu.
"<directory>" is the link to the directory file in /usr/share/applications/hildon with the code:

where "Name" is the name of the folder shown in the 'main' menu.
using "X-Osso-User-Position=" you can possition the folder where you want it, know that everything without a number gets added underneath all the things with a number.
this currently being my only one with a number, eventhough its 14, its still at the top.

if you want to add another folder just make another '.menu' and '.directory' and add the name to the 'include' list in 'hildon.menu'

any chance to get an UI to facilitate the organisation/creation of folders?

I agree, would be nice to be able to fully customise our menu like symbian can... I would like control over what apps go in what folders and sub folders if required.

So is it confirmed that this feature isn't available? I just created this thread because I thought that this feature was integerated but I just couldn't find....

Well, this is Linux, so yeah. What more is there to be expected apart from hacks and codes??? :)
