Now, now, don't be negative.

Nokia is infallible and has only had two short months to polish this final release of 1.2 from where the leaked RC was.

We should be eternally grateful for the release. The menu rearrangement not doing what you want it to is actually a feature.

There is a inbuilt filter to guard against illogical lineups :)

oh the love, i tough this is why portrait mode took so long to implement - ironing out the bugs, but alas no.

Don't be negative. Just be thankful that they remembered the N900.

Portrait keyboard was never mentioned as possibly coming with 1.2, but hey at least portrait mode is slowly creeping over to the device. Maybe in next update we'll have toggle option under settings to allow portrait in applications, similar way to what they did with the browser. First a hidden keystroke and then a toggle option.

I however thought that a built in geolocation function was supposed to be included in PR1.2 and the ability on uninstall those games included on the device. That appears to have not been the case.

But they were busy on other stuff.

it depends on the app: if you go to conversations-> sms and activate the rotate by keypress and close the application the rotate is still enabled, dont need to redo the press. if you however enable the rotate on the mail app and close it, you have to re-do it. i really wish they get rid of the button press, its really annoying and difficult..

I'm not technical with linux and such but isnt it just some sort of registery tweak that we need to apply, the phone clearly remembers somewhere that the shortcut is enabled so we should be able to fix this?

or am I wrong?

thanks

Maybe some blood shorted-out your keyboard? :p

It's so strange that it's not working for some people, as there really is no special 'trick' -- just open an app and press CTRL+SHIFT+R

I've just recently re-flashed my device (decided to flash eMMC, which I hadn't before), and portrait mode is still working just fine for me, so I'm stumped..

FWIW, I'm using the Global firmware, no OC.

RESOLVED

RE my earlier post, this is the reply I just got from hopbeat:

"I will add this when I have some time (hopefully in June). Stay tuned

Cheers."

We only have to wait a few weeks and we'll have a camera button shortcut to activate portrait mode as part of the Shortcutd application.

When i first recieved the update, rotation worked, but after trying to see if it worked on the email app, it hasn't worked at all, even on the browser. i've tried rebooting, tried toggling with the 'enable rotation' in the setting on the browser yet nothing works. Its not a major concern but would be nice to have the same features as everyone else....

What about using something like the 'Shortcutd' app (which lets you assign a shortcut to the camera button for either short or long press) to assign a script to the button so that it runs ctrl-shift-r when pressed? The benifit being that you wouldn't have to physically open your keyboard at all

it works very very well
