Guys, It's started downloading the 187 MB file using NSU (connected via cable), and it seems it will take another 1-2 hour to complete (internet speed is bad here). My quick question is phone is active and what if some one calls! Hope it wont affect the current process... I'm tensed :(

DL process shouldnt be affected (if it stops for some reason, it will begun where it was left). Then once the fw is downloaded, the phone will turn itself into flashing mode automatically. So dont worry about that.

My NSU update failed after 90MB of download sighting reason as internet connection issue/Nokia server error. I clicked 'try again' buttion NSU is not responding. Will try again after some time. But my device seems to be intact

@bipinbn So OTA is available now in India (I'm also at Bangalore). I couldn't check as i'm in office. Are you downloading it?

I just saw that I have no mp-fremantle-002-pr and if I try to install it via apt-get (apt-cache policy shows just one option), it'll try to update a whopping 119 MB of archives. Any way to "force" HAM to do it the right way? Should I look for mp-fremantle-002-pr and install it via HAM?

OTA is out. It is 113 MB in size.

Just updated the OTA FW on the way out to office.
Let the download complete and then the update will carry on even without any internet connection. (I just walked out the ddor as soon as download completed and am enjoining the new PR1.2 n the train ride.

I see the chnages in the browser so far. Got to explore some more.

It seems I need mp-fremantle-002-pr from PR1.1.1. Does anyone have it? it's mp-fremantle-002-pr version 3.2010.02-8. You'd need to enable the sdk repository, then dpkg-repack mp-fremantle-002-pr and make the file available to me so I could reinstall this package and proceed with the update (I don't want to do it via flashing).

Just as an FYI

I updated over the air this morning (first thing I do after waking up is check my N900 updates :-) )

I had cleaned up unnessary apps and disabled Extras devel and testing yesterday itself and had around 48MB free rootfs space.

After the update I see my rootfs stands at 77MB.

I didn't realize that the backups also store the names of all your installed programs. The restorer gives you the option of reinstalling all your old programs automatically, also. Now I'm not so annoyed about having to use NSU rather than fighting to free up another 30MB of rootfs space.

UK here with generic unbranded N900, it wont allow me to update OTA, keeps insisting on me using NSU, I guess that the servers are busy as it keeps dropping out, so far 5 hours and only 6.3mb downloaded.
Nokia need to use a download manager so it can be left to download instead of having to keep restarting the update process.

has anybody gotten their yahoo pidgin protocols to work for the conversations after updating...I can see them in my contacts as online, but when i try to send an IM to themfrom the conversations app, it doesnt show them as online...

edit: when im updating my phone, on the last few seconds my phone boot up asking me the location,time,date like normal. but NSU say update failed. check my phone and it got the new FW on the setting>about.

Direct video calling is not supported. Only available through skype and gtalk. You will need your skype/gtalk contact to be online - for you to use this function.

Portrait - as niqbal said above, go to settings in the browser and turn on the portrait mode.

We can't access the status bar from phone mode! :( Someone did mention that it will be in Pr 1.2.

i was looking for the rotation in the setting.. didnt know that its in the browser setting.. got it now!!!

Im going to try skype video call later.. ill update!

Video calling on skype is really good (PC to n900) using Logitech pro 9000 on pc somehow show quality video in the N900.

how did you guys free up fricking 113mb(half the total space) from the rootfs? aside from cleaning the cache, removing extra apps, and application catalogs?

I only had ~53MB free...ran the update, it only prompted me to "Perform Backup" (I declined since I ran it yesterday), and proceeded with the install. When complete, all my settings and apps were in tact, without running a restore.

Only problem I'm having is that incoming calls just display the number, not the contact's name.

Skype video calling has perfect sound and no lagging at all. And rootfs went from 54Mb to 74Mb free. But i got to say that my CPU usage is almost on 100% with video call :D

here in chile i updated at 9.30 am via NSU and worked perfectly, before i made a backup, OTA didn't show anything

My update went super fine!! Saw the blinking <!> at 6am in the morning and I was good to go. BTW try restarting the device. It might help.

Ah, finally the holy grain update. I would rather perform a clean install than an update. Any pointers where I can download the firmware from? Has anyone done a clean install of PR1.2?
