TV Catchup now works!
 

Loaded TV Catchup and noticed a 'new' low quality stream.

So loaded the same site on the n900, and tried it out...

Works absolutely perfect! Live streaming TV now available!

Give it a go guys!

Had shortcut on my n900 for ages, never used it though because it was unwatchable, works perfect now though just before the world cup too will be able to watch england while at work. Thanks.

doesnt work smooth for me with wifi. are your phones overclocked?

The advert plays jumpy but if you make sure you click the low res tab when you get to the channel list and give the video 10 seconds to load it should play good...

Note: I had to click the low res tab even though I clicked the low res option on the pop up window.

p.s. not overclocked

mines not overclocked anymore either. it was a bit jerky to start with but it settled down. plus there is a button to make it go full screen which seems to help as well.

that is pretty low res.

search for tvcatchup script.

it allows n900 to play the iphone stream which appears to be higher quality.

IMO it seems a bit of a pain having to install the other apps n widget etc... think I'll just stick to this 2 click link that works pretty good.

I would like to know if there is a big difference between the Iphone link and the low res link, i.e. quality and streaming rate?!

Well, Dave channel doesn`t play smoothly...there`s something wrong with it.....other than this is amazing!

Looks like you have to click on full screen option for smooth play quality.

I was streaming this using tv out to my 26 inch LCD. quality was fine. obviously not perfect. but was watchable and very quick to setup.

almost agree with you on this...this low stream goes a massive way to solving the flash 10.1 issue...and yes i get the same with dave tv....shame because i wanted to watch 8 hours of QI last night.....lol

You do not need to download anything....if in uk you just select low bandwidth and nearly all work perfectly (except dave tv from what i can make out)...please also note you need to register....it;s free quick and easy to do.


please note this is a uk only service....you might get it working via open vpn? havent tried it because i am in the uk so no need. It is based on a uk proxy so if you are outside the uk it will not work.

It suddenly doesn't work, cos the low and high quality tabs have disappeared on the site. Anyone know what's going on...? Also, I'm assuming everyone else is having this problem, even though no one's said so...

One of the first websites i tried when i got my 900 was hoping to get tv on my 900 for well im not sure really... being stuck in traffic i suppose and hmmm work? am i allowed to say that ? shhh

In advance of the World Cup, we are pleased to announce that we are starting to test both low and high quality TVCatchup streams.

The low quality (350kb/s) and high quality (1500kb/s) will compliment the existing standard quality (750kb/s) and will mean that all members have the very best viewing experience.

If you would like to help us test the new stream sizes, just select the "Low" or "High" quality tab from the Channels page. The options will appear this weekend.

We will be working on the streams over the next few weeks to iron out any bugs in advance of June 11th! '

I just tried it in my browser on my laptop but not had chance to do it on my n900 yet - i just typed it in when thinking about a lower stream version for mobiles and by chance it loaded up.

Also been reading on the forums and they are doing a closed beta to support a number of mobile devices.....

Hope i've stumbled upon the mobile service and not another iphone service ? ;-)

It only looks to accepts login details of those in the Beta program.

just tested it. it tries to launch it in the default maemo media player when you click a channel. then the media player says "playlist corrupted". I have a feeling that if it launched with mplayer we would be fine.

Low res may or may not be on the website when you try it. This is still in BETA and will be added / removed for changes when needed so its up to scratch before a solid release.

This is mentioned on the tvcatchup.com forums.
