'How To' flash to PR 1.2 - but first 'downgrade' from an overclocked 1.1 ?

Hi, all.

I want to flash my N900 to PR 1.2.

But I have overclocked my N900 to 900Mhz a month ago, and I remember one first needs to 'downgrade' to the default / factory firmware first, before going over to 1.2

Anyone have a step-by-step checkllist how to do that ?

Another question: I did make a backup already with the phone's built-in 'Backup'. Is that enough to safeguard me from any possible loss of data?

Thanks in advance for you help !

You don't need to downgrade anything. When you flash your N900 with PR1.2 it will undo any overclocking that you've done

You should probably transfer the backup you made along with your photos, music and videos (that is, all in your MyDocs folder and on your SD card) to a computer before flashing. You could do this by plugging your N900 to the computer with an USB cable. Just in case something goes wrong ;)

If your backup is on the SD card it is safe from both the FIASCO and eMMC flashes

Doesn't the PR1.2 update overwrite any previous overclocking settings with default ones ??

Once you've updated to 1.2 then re-do your overclocking.

Thats my understanding anyway  :)

So when i did the over the air update did my phone get taken back to 600? I had previously overclocked it.

Yes, that's correct. You need to set it up again. Hopefully you have your settings in a file somewhere, so it should be easy to redo them after reinstalling the advanced kernel.

Thanks that explains the slowness since the update

Thanks guys, it worked out all fine! (except for a few apps that 'disappeared' ;-)

Strong advice: one *really* needs to make a Backup (internal service) - some configurations will be lost!

Now about overclocking: it seems there are several 'solutions' .

I read something about a 'Titan'-kernel, which wouldn't need any flashing ('install' only). Anyone got experience with this / a HowTo with Titan + PR1.2?

And: I saw the possibility of a dynamic (point & click, 'on-the-fly') configuration tool (switching between kernel-configurations).

Does anyone know what I mean? How do I get that installed?

Thanks in advance for your help !

Im using Titan-kernel, its called Kernel-Power, and the installation method is no different with or without pr1.2.

Im not using the point and click interface, ive configured it to 850 as a post-installation procedure.

Check the wiki for more data: http://wiki.maemo.org/Kernel_Power

there are two versions of the kernel: extras and extras-testing, the documentation are a bit mixed there
