Motorola Q tethering?
How do I tether a Verizon Motorola Q to my N800? I have the data package with the tethering option.

Re: Motorola Q tethering?
I had it working once via blue tooth the first night that Verizon enabled the additional data access on my phone, I suspect They sent an update (?) as I have never been able to make it work again. I had previously loaded the registry fix to enable DUN via BT, as Verizon was disabling this ability. I don't know at this point if the registry is still set to allow. Let us know if you are able to get it working. I'll post back also, If I figure it out.

Re: Motorola Q tethering?
The bluetooth stack on the moto q is funny and doesnt play well with the n800. Install PDAnet and you're all set.

Re: Motorola Q tethering?
I loaded PDAnet on my Q and paired my N800 with my Q and still no luck connecting. Can you provide details of how you got yours to work?

Re: Motorola Q tethering?
What did it take to get the N800 working with PDANet?
UName and PW in #777 DataCall or not? I am still having trouble establishing a connect even with PDANet. Have RePaired and reran the phone wizard etc. |
Re: Motorola Q tethering?
RePaired and manually set up a dial up connection. Now PDANet on the Q is asking me to register. I haven't confirmed that this will work with South Florida Verizon as of yet.
Uninstalled PDANet from the handheld and reinstalled from my pc - standard install using Active Synch. Confirmed that Motorola Q on Verizon with the Data Plan activated. Note that my procedure involved doing the normal blueTooth Pairing and then manually setting up a new connection for Verizon with DataCall #777 user MyCellNumb@vzw3g.com pass vzw Sweet, the fact that Cell phone calls can be received during (rather interruption instead of no phone calls at all) a data call makes PDANet completely worth the price for me. Speed Test 204 kb/s Down 76 kb/s up |
Re: Motorola Q tethering?
If you have the tethering option on your plan, you don't need a user/pass. I just leave mine blank and it works just fine.

Re: Motorola Q tethering?
I also left my username and password blank. With the Q and PDAnet I only saw speeds of 150 to 200 Kbps but with the KRZR I saw speeds of 470 to 520 Kbps.
I dont know what the reason is for the huge difference in speed between the phones. Maybe its due to the fact that the KRZR is bluetooth 2.0?? I also heard that with PDAnet you don't get an EVDO connection.. But I never looked into it. |
