Re: Ovi Store Update
Phew.... If I was nokia, thats the bug I would definitely not want to fix
|
Re: Ovi Store Update
Nokia keeps shooting themselves in the foot, IMHO.
A little tweet or blog post on conversations could solve all of this |
Re: Ovi Store Update
I dont know about bugs but they stole 9 cents from me :D
In ovi store Pro version of Panorama app was 2.99CAD today when I checked my credit card statement "OVI STORE ESPOO" charged me 3.09CAD |
Re: Ovi Store Update
in that case Ovi store should give store prices in USD not CAD...minor issue but annoying

About the Ovi Store, I'd be willing to spend a few euros for good games. The problem is that the game development is more or less happening in North America. And we all know how well Nokia is doing out there. |

If I were a fanboy or a Nokia employee hired to do damage control within the community (qgil) my answer would be something like that: "Qt4.6 is the answer for all your problems, it will make all iPhone and Android developers move to Meego, and therefore Maemo shall benefit indirectly due to the magical cross-platform compatibility Qt allows!!". |
Re: Ovi Store Update
thats a good one russo and I believe thats the thought process of nokia too.But I have my doubts though...what makes us so confident that nokia wld get it all right with Meego? Are they much wiser now than when maemo 5 was created?

Each person has its own feelings to what Nokia did with N900... My answer is simple and it is what every disappointed N900 owner should do: spread to everybody you can that Nokia can not be trusted, not only on this forum but commenting on Internet reviews about the phone and to all your friends. Some can argue that I am overacting and that kind of attitude would just be worst for Maemo... but from my point of view Maemo is already destined to death... |
Re: Ovi Store Update
after all this mess nokia is gonna loose at least 50 000 loyal customers... But I think they dont really care

Re: Ovi Store Update
just an update...N900 is released in India today.Historically India has been a bigger market for Nokia atleast on the symbian front.Remember this is the first of the Nokia's internet tablets to get released here.
So Nokia is pushing hard to make as much money on the hardware as the N97 |

- Lack of strategic planning by Nokia executives, which wouldn't change with Meego unless Intel assumes all the project, and this doesn't seem to be happening (at least I just see messages from Nokia's Meego team, for me Intel just entered with is name for marketing reasons, with the objective to sell Atom CPUs in the future, away from ARM chips) - Nokia and Intel signed an agreement in the middle of 2009. Nokia launched N900 with Maemo 5 at November 2009, with lots of missing features like Ovi Store. I doubt they didn't even think about Meego when N900 was launched... unless my first comment about lack of planning is right. Assuming they were already planning Meego, that would be even worst for both customers and developers who believed on Maemo 5's future, and invested their time and money trusting on Nokia. Such disappointment is not easily forgotten... And the business has a simple rule of thumb: "if it costs $1 for you to conquest a customer's loyalty, it will cost $10 to bring him back in case of disappointment" |

First of all, a step 4 out of 5 should be a device for internal test only. Every device sold to consumers must be step 5 of 5, otherwise is a beta version, which shouldn't be sold as a final product. Just wait and see... the only way Meego will be a success is if Intel assumes the control of the project and invest heavily on Atom based devices, otherwise you will see Nokia limited to sell entry-level mobiles with Symbian, loosing high-end market share even for LG and HTC. |
Re: Ovi Store Update
i dont care whether the n900 is step 4 or 3 of 5, just give me some bloody games and apps ovistore!!!!

Re: Ovi Store Update
I don't get what's wrong with you people?
I am really thankfull that Nokia did release this phone. And I really don't get what you are all crying about beeing disapointed. I am quite happy with the amount of support Nokia puts into this. I expected less and still bought the device. Nokias big misstake was to too much target the average phone (for example by putting that phone on ther main website) user who should never bought that phone. Well, that clearly explains why they sold way more than they expected. It got too much attation in the wrong target groups. @russo_br: I am happy to be part of that step 4. Happy that Nokia does all of this open. And well you are all still using the N900, can't be so bad then. If it is really that bad, sell it and get something else. I think it does all what Nokia ever said it will do? |

Brownie points for you!!! You whipped a "fanboy" Now, you may eat a d*ck Look, if you want to argue state your facts. Don't pull **** out of your a**. Nokia made it known that it was a step 4 of 5. Whether that should have been done, I could care less. |

if you take everything seriously in life then i feel sorry for. last time i checked this was a tread about the ovistore, im entitled to make a minor comment about the need for some more apps and games for the ovistore, especially as Nokia has teased us with some upcoming apps and games (3d rollercoaster to name but one). if this makes me a 'brat', then i'!l embrace that title until they release some new content. |
Re: Ovi Store Update

Re: Ovi Store Update
Ahhh...
You have MAME. You have the Zeemote controller running perfectly. You have the Playstation Emulator. You have Nintendo, the Commodore series up to the Amiga and Sega... And you are posting over not having some silly game in addition to the literal THOUSANDS that you can play through any of the above emulators? Some silly game you would have to PAY for, when you can play any of the above for FREE? I have never tried Angry Birds, so I must admit I do not know how good it is, but somehow... Somehow I doubt it will top Giga Wing or Hexen 2 or Quake in my list of games to play on the N900. Not to mention Dune 2! Maemo is Linux. That means Open Source. That means that you have a WORLD of programmers providing you with new applications DAILY. You can be thankful to them and use what they provide you with, or you can wait for some application provided by Nokia that you can complain about, BECAUSE it comes from Nokia and involves liability. You buy a gaming rig and complain the OS only has Solitaire when you want to play Minesweeper also? Forget the silly OVI apps. Read up on these forums and learn why our N900s have already FAR exceeded what you paid for them, in value given back to us users. Learn about YOUR device and make the most of it. Nothing comes close. |

Re: Ovi Store Update
Offscr seem to be churning out the most apps in the Ovi store
|
Re: Ovi Store Update
Yep but most of are just for fun no serious apps
|
Re: Ovi Store Update
It seems to be their thing. I don't think they make "serious" apps and they are free too
|
Re: Ovi Store Update
Yep , one more thing..it seems these games need some updates ,after upgrading to PR 1.2 they all have lags. I doubt that N900 cant handle them its just that they are not optimized for Qt 4.6 but we cant blame Nokia for this one :D
