Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement

Thank you for such an Excellent application. I use hermes for updating birthday info to be incorporated in my contacts and this application brilliantly displays all birthdays along with age of the person (Awesome!) But it displays both first and last name in the calender. Is it possible to display only first name, So calender would show age with the name :) Thanks again :)

Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement

after the latest update of the widget my N900 does not show alarms for calendar appointments. alarms are visible in outlook of course and standard setting is 15 mins before.
i tried to synchronize setting option to delete phone data and replace it with MS Outlook data but it did not help.

Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement

Are you sure the alarms are in your calendar?
I thought there is a bug with synchronizing events from
outlook, where the appointments lost the alarm entry.

Yes - I am sure that alarms are in Outlook.
I even set the alarm for the appointment in N900 and it is synchronized to Outlook. But in other direction - not.

No, I meant, are you sure they are in the calendar application, because
my widget can only show the events, if they are from the calendar
application.

Maybe this two bugs are related to your problem. Syncing events from
outlook calendar, can remove the alarm setting, if the alarm does not
match which this stupid alarm presets from the calendar application.
If you have events in your outlook calendar
with alarm setting "15 min before" and events
with alarm setting "10 min before",
only the first one will be synced with alarms in your n900 calendar, the
second one will be synced without alarm!

Bug 9898: Alarm times are changed when calendar events are synchronized from Outlook
Bug 11556: Major problems with "acceptable" alarm times and calendar sync; losing alarms!

Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement

I wrote earlier that my standard alarm setting in Outlook is 15 mins before appointment. I am aware that other alarm settings do not synchronize correctly.
But even such events with alarm 15 mins before are visible after synchronization in N900 without any alarm.
I have no idea what can be wrong...

BTW - what do you mean by 'calendar application'? Is it calendar in Outlook or calendar in N900? I do not understand your question about it.

Update:
Events created by me in Outlook are visible in N900 with alarm.
Events sent by others and accepted by me are visible without alarm.

It seems that there is no common pattern for this - I am confused now.

Nicolai - please do not pay to much attention to my problem :-)
I will simply wait for another update as anyway I really like what you did so far :-)

Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement

Great widget!

Just one question, I've seen the option to update the widget every time you switch to the desktop. The thing is that I don't need it that often and it's wasting CPU time & IOs, as I'm synchronizing my iCal just every few hours.

I've also seen that if you turn-off this auto-update function, it updates the calendar as soon as you tap the widget to open the calendar app.

So is there a way to manually trigger the widget update function through a shell command, so it would make my synchronization script complete?

Thanks!

Hi MONVMENTVM,

you can try this, the widget always listen on calendar db changes
on dbus. The calendar app sends dbus signals when you change
the calendar events from within the calendar application.
If you change the calendar db directly,
put this lines at the end of your script to send th dbus
signal:
dbus-send --session --type=signal /com/nokia/calendar com.nokia.calendar.dbChange string:"" string:"" string:"" string:"" string:""

Nicolai

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for! It updates the widget every time I synchronize my calendar, not more not less :).
