I can also confirm this with my events.
I'm updating to 0.9.3 and will advise. EDIT: Works. Thanks for the quick fix. |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Hey nicolai,
great widget, love the improvements for tasks and the all day bugfix. I have a feature request: Day names for events that are within 7 days as an option to enable. To better explain, currently we have: Today Event name [] 30/09 Event name2 [] 01/10 Event name3 [] 12/10 Event name4 [] What I would love, would be to have the option to see: Today Event name [] Thurs Event name2 [] Fri Event name3 [] 12/10 Event name4 [] |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
i cannot see events nor tasks for the current month. it only displays birthday for more than the current month.

Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement

Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Hi, and sorry for this problems.
Can you describe what is wrong with the date format. Do you have version 0.9.2 or 0.9.3? nicolai |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Moin.
0.9.3 works perfect. Thanks. Display all Events, all Task, correct Day u.s.w. |

Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Hi Nicolai,
Just as in Scout, with Calendar Home Widget I ran into a minor bug: If the ampersand '&' is included in an event, the entire event will not show in the widget. Please have a look. All the best and thanks, Piet Gispen http://www.pietgispen.com |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
nicolai: event is "name surname & Marcin Juszkiewicz one-on-one call" synced with erminig from GCalendar. happens biweekly, 16:00 - 16:15 time.
So it looks that peitgispen has a right. |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
I can confirm the "&" bug.
Further more the widgewt does not update in the morning: on thursday 30th ir still indicates wednesday 29th in the heading even when I check üpdate when swith to desktop"in the settings. It updated when appointments were added when I synchonized with outlook. Best regards, Joep |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Thank you, I will try to fix this.

Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement

Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
I'm facing a strange problem. It happened twice this week.
The problem seems to be related to birthdays. Yesterday (Sunday), it was the birthday of a friend of mine and this event was shown on the widget correctly. But this morning I found the widget still showing yesterday's date and my friend's birthday as the event of the day ("Update when switching to the desktop" is not set). This same thing also happened last Thursday-Friday with another birthday. Both days it happened, there was no other event than the birthday itself. However, Saturday I had two birthdays (and nothing else) and the date had changed correctly when I checked on Sunday morning. Another strange thing is that the birthday from Thursday and one of the birthdays from Saturday, show-up on the calendar, but the other Saturday birthday and Sunday's one do not appear on the calendar... To try to provide a better description of the problem, a few moments ago I changed the widget's configuration to show the weekday, and now it shows today events, but it still shows yesterday's date (Sunday Oct/10) on top. After that, I also checked "Updated when switch to the desktop" but nothing changed. But when I unchecked it to go back to my old configuration, the date was updated. So at this moment it's showing the correct information, but it took me several configurations manipulations. Someone else has seen something like this? Is this a widget problem or is my calendar database corrupted? Thanks. |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Hi systemcrash,
thank you for reporting this. It is almost certainly a problem with the widget. I had to change some parts to include tasks. The difference is that task and birthday event looks similiar like allday events. But don't have the same end-time as allday events. I will make some tests and try to fix this. regards nicolai |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Nicolai: Not sure if this is requested several times already but would it be easy to create also replacement for current Email widget? Would be nice to have both calendar and email side by side populating one homescreen :) Or does email part have some closed Nokia bits?
|
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Thanks Nicolai for your quick answer. I'm looking forward for the fix.
However, my calendar (not your widget but Nokia's Calendar application) is showing some of the birthdays but not all of them. As I guess you have some knowledge about events and tasks internals, I would like to know your opinion about what could be causing this part of the problem. Maybe in addition to the problem in the widget I have a corrupted calendar database? May this be impacting the widget behavior? |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Hi,
when displaying tasks+events, finished tasks are displayed as strikethrough text - could they be left out instead? leaving space for other events/tasks? |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Yes, good idea. I'll make it configurable.

Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Thanks for the new update. Time and weekday make it much better.

Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement

The latest changes are very useful. |

Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Hi. Is this application opensource? If yes, what is the project homepage?
Thank you Andrea |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Yes it is open source. But there is no project home page.
Source is in the maemo repository. nicolai |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Hi Nicolai,
Tiny beatification request. When choosing the day names to be shown the columns are not aligned anymore since the "Sun" and "Mon" etc have slight difference in size. Otherwise no issues at all. Thanks. |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Hi Saturn,
yes you are right, I need to find a way to define a fixed size for the date column. Thank you for reporting this Nicolai |

PR1.3 update causes the widget to do this;
Draws a weird line that makes the next appointment line look "depressed" into the widget. |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Still in PR1.2:
Just noticed all my yearly recursive events are displayed one day in advance. In the default calendar widget and in the calendar are shown correctly. I do the editing in Outlook and sync through MfE with my work's Exchange server 2003. If I open the calendar, edit and save - no change, just save - it displays correctly. If I open then the outlook calendar it has shifted one day in advance. Really bizarre, I will check better when I get some time but if someone knows the reason already please point me. Thanks. |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
@hawaii
I can not see the difference in how it looked with PR1.2 @Saturn Yes I think there is still a bug with synced events. It has something to do with the timezone offset. nicolai |

Hi,
I'm a big fan of this widget, but I was missing some features like: 1. Show undone past todos. 2. Hide completed todos. I've patched 0.9.5. This patched version will draw a red line above today's events/todos if there are undone past todos. I tried red text, but it's not quite readable. The attached zip file contains a patch file for source code and cal-home-widget.so. You can copy cal-home-widget.so to /usr/lib/hildon-desktop. In XTerminal, Code:
rootI hope the original author includes my patch in his official release so that I don't have to patch his code every time he releases a new version. Thanks. Huidae Cho |
Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement
Thank you,
I will take a look at your patch. I am working on a way to display undone task, too. nicolai |
