Re: Guide for first time overclockers?

yeh sorry that was a typo on the computer i noticed that and then tryed kernel-config with the same resaults.

if i type kern then tab which should normaly show a list of availible comands nothing is displayed.

i am installing the extras-testing version see if that makes a diffrence.

Re: Guide for first time overclockers?

ok have updated to the latest version in extras-testing still no kernel-config in xterm am i missing something.

the exact process i have tryed was:

1. downloaded the enhanced kernel installed.(app manager)

2. restart device

3. insatll enhanced kernel settings (app manager)

4. went to xterm typed "kernel-config show"

x-term out put:
-sh: kernel-config:not found

You have to be "root" user. Then see if the command works. If it still cannot find that command, then try reinstalling the settings package.

I have revamped my guide today to hopfully make it easier to follow. So check it out as well.

The overclocking has been stunning. And easy to follow. Thank you!

Re: Guide for first time overclockers?

If you have freezes or reboots, do not accept that as normal because you are overclocking. It is not normal at all. Don't freak out, but don't just live with it, either.

Don't worry about the 500 mHz setting in Ideal. This has been carefully discussed in the Overclocking thread. It's not intuitively obvious, bit Ideal really is ideal for many users. If it's stable with ideal, stay with ideal is my advice.

Re: Guide for first time overclockers?

I have activated the 'Ideal' 250-850 kernel which is fine and no freezes at all yet. My question is what do all the other kernels do? ie. LV, XLV, Starving etc. It would be nice to see in the guide a summary of what each kernel actually achieves, pros and cons, what sort of use each one is best for and the best settings to activate with each kernel......I think the guide is fantastic for noobs to install etc.(thank you jakiman) but could explain the above mentioned points in more detail, then it would be perfect!

the 500Mhz lower limit is not idle! 0 Mhz is the idle frequency.
http://wiki.maemo.org/Overclocking#A...tion_and_hints

ideal, ULV etc are not kernels but settings. The kernel is always the same.

Re: Guide for first time overclockers?

yeh sorry i figured it out last night. The only reson i thought something was wrong because i have never come accross a situation were only applications are visible by the root user. Shame i figured it out after a flash and re install of application. :P

Re: Guide for first time overclockers?

So how do you make this permanent after you overclock so it does not reset itself after reboot? Any idea?
