Porting can in fact take quite a bit to do, depending on how things are designed. If they designed their engine specifically to make the packs device independent, then yes, porting is "just" porting the engine. That said, engine porting isn't all cake and ice-cream. And since they're giving that port away to drum up sales, they have to recover that elsewhere.

I'm sure if you multiply the number of iPhone users they estimate will buy packs times the cost, the margin after covering development is much higher, even at the lower cost. The margin for the N900 is probably lower, even with the higher price per pack and lower porting costs, simply because the user base is so much smaller (and fewer are likely to spend money via the OVI store).

I'm grabbing the new packs now, and wish them well! I fully expect most things to cost a little more for us vs the iPhone. The user base is smaller by many factors, so to make up for that, costs per unit will be higher.

I'm in the UK, fired up Angry Birds, clicked on the level pack 2 & 3 icons and purchased both with a debit card. At Last! Sweet!

I guess golden eggs are collected during levels? I can access that menu, but I see 7 eggs which are greyed out...

You can start collecting Golden Eggs with the latest version of Angry Birds coupled with Level Pack 1. Level Packs 2 & 3 also contain Golden Eggs to be collected.

There are actually 3 levels in the 1st episode. The demo only has the 1st level, which is 21 stages.

Happy it finally came, love this game.

It's a shame that ovi don't let me buy the level packs :( First one bought without a problem, but the rest it doesn't accept the same credit card...
Tried with 2 different cc's and same...

Shame, real shame...

Just read this on the Ovi Store FAQ:

"Note that purchased content can be re-downloaded only up to 5 times."

WTF? I'm not buying anything else from the Ovi store ever again until this is changed.

But why do we have to pay an extra 1.50 a time when the iphone extra packs have been free.


I get the Original pack.
The Extra development cost, and the lower user base of the Nokia means a dearer price.. cool, make sence if annoying


but theres a development cost of extra levels , but this cost isnt passed on in form of payment for extra levels to iphone users.


Ive long though it odd the Rovio gave the extra packs away on the iphone for free, but thats up to them. and i would have understood the dearer cost per pack for the nokia had the charged for the iphone.

but it looks like were paying for the development of new levels and thus subsadising the release of the same iphone levels.

i know having seen them the extra levels are worth the cost. but i feel ripped off.

HM getting a 'download corrupt' when I try and download pack 3 . Anyone know whats going on? I've already tired to download twice anyone know if they enforce this limit?

Because when Rovio updates Angry Birds with new levels on the App Store they stay in the Top 25 rankings longer. Which increases their visibility making it more likely that new users will buy the game. And the people who already own the game will tell their friends about the games and promote it for them.

Basically their strategy on the iPhone is to keep getting new people to buy Angry Birds.

While on the N900 it's inverted. Get people to play Angry Birds and then buy the additional level packs if they want.

I have downloaded Angry Birds pack 2, but it won't install as I need Angry Birds update 1.3.4. Since I have not received an update link via SMS and cannot see this application in my Apllication Manager, how do I actually update the App? I tried to re-install but I just get "Angry Birds already installed".
If I do manage to update, how do I install Level Pack 2, which is also not shown in App Manager - can I download from Ovi Store again, or will I have to pay again first?
