Re: Download flash videos directly to n900
Sorry if this has been mentioned earlier, but I find that my flash video downloading needs are perfectly fulfilled by these two excellent programs from marxian:
cuteTube (and cuteTubeQML) QDL I use cuteTube to download YouTube, DailyMotion, and Vimeo videos. With QDL you can download flash videos from many other places in addition to those. You just need to install the plugin for the service that you need to use, which is also provided by marxian (plugins are distributed now in separate packages for maemo, whereas before there was just a monolithic package for the program and all the plugins). |
Re: Download flash videos directly to n900
other ones that work well on the n900 (via command line):
movgrab youtube-dl |

the nice thing with this and youtube-dl is they both support a lot of websites like qdl (listed by typing youtube-dl --list-extractors and movgrab -h) |

Re: Download flash videos directly to n900
Freddie,
I just copied that YouTube URL, pasted it to the URL field of QDL, added the URL, and downloaded in less than 1 minute. You can set the download quality (I had mine set to 360P). You could achieve your goal by: - Download cuteTube or cuteTubeQML. - Download QDL (and download the QDL YouTube plugin). The QDL route is easier if you have a YouTube URL already. From cuteTube / cuteTubeQML you can only download a video that you have already found during a Search operation. Hope that helps! By the way, cuteTube / cuteTubeQML and QDL are standalone programs, they are not microB addons. |

i have tried installing QDL but toooo much unmet dependancies.
Esp applauncherd-launcher, libqtcore4 and libqtgui4....and when I fetch them independently, leads to another list of required dependancies. Tried Meecolay, but also won't install...due to required dependencies. any advice/help? and tempy wont work without the proper temp folder. tried creating it but srill didn't work, any ideas how i can have the /temp folder back as is supposed to be? |
Re: Download flash videos directly to n900
Freddie,
I just noticed you have replaced your Flash plugin with the non-official 10.1 version that's floating around. When I tried that, I had results that were "not so good", but if it works for you... That being said: Adobe changed it's tmp location, between the official Flash9 version that's on the N900 and the 10.1 you use. The tmp loation is now /var/tmp. /var/tmp is located on your root partition. Possibly the flash file can be found adding sudo to your lsof | grep Flash. If it can not be found by adding sudo, do it manually, by just going, as root, to the /var/tmp folder. |
Re: Download flash videos directly to n900
Anthonie,
Is there an official release for download yet, last time I checked, this was only prelim news. Maybe there is a way to use the stock player but change the settings on the quality of the content to download? Tried looking up /var/tmp for the youtube temp file but (using filebox) but didn't get any. I also tried lsof | grep Flash but there was no output, though it took some time before returning to the root..., after running it, is there something else am supposed to do to get the file? sorry I asked so many questions, I just thot its good I elaborate my situation, only then can you be able to help me out My regards, Freddie. |
