Guys this is the third time I'm posting this query .. isn't there anyone who can help me on this ... ???

Quoting my problem from yesterday again ...

Thanks for pointing that out :P .. Anyways, the boot menu worked and everything, however when I press 4 (R), I see the text and, the a few seconds later the NITDroid video starts looping .. But it stays in this loop forever .. I've left it for as much as 15-20 minutes, and the NITDroid Matrix video keeps playing repeatedly ..

I saw that in the boot menu the third option is the same as the 4th one, so I tried the 3rd one, and as far as I can tell, the behavior was exactly the same ..

Here are some pictures from after I select the 4th option:

Also, when I boot into Maemo and connect the N900 to my PC in Mass Storage mode, I see the 1MB partition now .. How can I change this so that I see the internal 27GB of the N900 like before all this ?

So in layman terms this means I need to completely restore my N900's old state and start from scratch .. ?

I think you can just format your sd card and repartition it.
Then just install nitdroid again.

But doesn't installing NITDroid modify the working of the Maemo OS in any way ? What about the bootloader thing ? And where are the NITDroid OS files installed: on the microSD card or the onboard 32 GB ?

nope, NITDroid doesn't modify the Maemo OS. But you're right, it does install multiboot on the onboard filesystem.
I'm guessing, however, seeing how far you got into booting, the bootloader is not the problem (and from what i understand multiboot also does the flashing, so the kernel can't be the problem either.).

Just try removing all files from the SD card and extracting the files again. If the problem still persists, try downloading the package again, perhaps it got corrupted.

Reboot the phone and try the wifi again, on first boot the wifi gives an error when enabling it for the first time, it usually works after a reboot

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

tried reboot 3 times still error but cheers for replying *sonic* :) will give another reboot and then reinstall nitroid gain maybe

noted thsat after install kernel 04 from page 1 of new multiboot thread i now need option 5 (kernel04) to boot nitroid , wonder if thatys my issue ? boot menu list is

1 vmlinuz-2.6.28-omap1
2 vmlinuz-2.6.28.10power37
3 System.map-2.6.28.NIT.02
4 System.map-2.6.28.NIT.03
5 vmlinuz-2.6.28.NIT.04

To fix my "Freezing" maemo issue after installing NITdroid, I just removed the SD card and it runs fine now :)

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

Is the reason that Nitdroid doesn't work on internal flash a technical one or that you just don't want people to mess up the flash with repartitioning?

dj_steve 2010-07-21 18:24

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

the latter :) its quite possible to get nitdroid onto emmc but i wont give info on how as it could potentionally brick maemo if done wrong

It should shut down after that. Then just reboot and press the same option in multiboot.

recoverable by reflashing the entire os most likely

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

So i was following the directions on the new thread, up until the part where i reboot after the MicroSD partition. Well after the reboot, it went to multiboot with no options present. It'll countdown till about 8 then turn off. I restarted a few times with the same result.

I've followed most, if not all, the builds and this is the first i've come across a problem on.

So yea, is there anything i can do?

UPDATE: found the forum on nitdroid.com and followed the post saying to press b to get out of a boot loop and it worked. Fixed my problem, for now at least. I'll leave this post here in case it's useful for someone else.

Hello

I just installed the latest Nitdroid and tried running it but i wont work at all.I choose the option for Nitdroid in the multiboot menu but it just doesnt do anything.all it does is quickly go back to the multiboot menu. I tried reinstalling it but to no avail.

Does anyone know why

Thanks

PS. i tried pressing b like stated in the post above but well not sure if that was even my problem in the first place

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

check the item file is correct- if you used the cat command per the howto on page 1 you need to make sure you enter the \${EXT_CARD}p2 otherwise if you used leafpad or similar to create it then DONT add the \ (\ is escape character to stop cat interpreting ${EXT_CARD} as a variable

vincent333 2010-07-23 12:58

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

No it doesnt do anything. All it does it flash really quicky and show the Kernel info, device and fstype stuff that was typed using the cat command.it flashes very quickly and then just goes straight back to multiboot

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

Guys,

Been watching this thread(s) for a while and have to say some good progress being made! Was trying to hold off trying this until call functionality had been implemented so that I wouldnt have to worry about recieving txts etc whichever os I was in (any eta on this yet...no pressure :D) but its either mess with my phone or tidy the house while everyone is out and about and I know what side Im swaying to...couple of quick clarifications however before Im fully ready to give this a whirl:

If I want to get my phone back to virgin state once I've installed am I right in thinking its just a format of the memory card and uninstalling bootloader with

"cd /home/user
tar xzvf remove-multiboot-0.1.x.tar.gz
./multiboot-remove
rm multiboot-remove
rm remove-multiboot-0.1.x.tar.gz"

If nokia decide to bring out a maemo update while I have this installed (can but hope) would it cause any issues to update or would it have to remove this first

Im sure I read something about the newest version being more update friendly how easy will it be to update if I install this.

Guys Im still a noob so if these questions have been answered previously I apologies, I have tried to read up and searching this forum can, at times be a nightmare.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

okay, maybe it has already been asked, but i don't find any answer with search tool... so :
i just tried labyrinth lite with the new version of nitdroid (aka 0.5-4) as i've seen that accelerometer support have been updated...

but the thing is, that the game doesn't recognize any accelerometer !

does dj_steve says that only rotation is supported for now on the thread ??

thx
