i just installed nitdroid, but after choosing nitdroid on the boot menu i cant seem to pass this screen where it says

/sbin/preinit: line1: text2screen: not found

this line keeps repeating over and over

does anyone know the reason? or what is wrong?
When I got this it was because the rootfs has not been extracted to the memory card. Boot into maemo

Code:

mount /dev/mmcblk1p2 /and
And make sure you have the android files there.

Guys do you know how to make the accelerometer to work in games, it's not working since the last 2 updates. accelerometer only works for the phone auto orientation but for the games that requires accelerometer it is not working eg. labyrinth, abduction etc.
This is being worked on and there is no solution at the moment.

It wont show on file manager, only the fat partition will.

Once you have formatted it as per the instruction, mount it to /and (as in my post above) then if you
Code:

cd /and
you will then be accessing the memory card. This is where you need to be when you untar the rootfs.

for games and things which dont work when copied to system/app i found it easiest to copy them onto the emmc and use a file manager to install them.

I have a question regarding touch support in the bootmenu, when I turn on the n900 the bootmenu shall apear, can I select to boot to android/maemo by touching on the screen or I have to open the keyboard and use the d-pad?
Thanks!

okay found the easiest way to copy apks without the full knowledge of xterm, i know silly but who cares. first make sure ure running open ssh , then use the mount command from the topic nitdroid modding etc. directly from the first post (its the one where ext3 and so on is mentionend).got it? k proof it by opening the filemanager of meemo, there ull see the /and folder besides your sdcard and ur mass. great now open winscp, move to your root of ur storage until u see the and folder. go in! ;) put ur apk now in there, this is basically the emmc of the android. now on ur n900 unmount the p2 with "umount /dev/mmcblk1p2" after that install ur apk in android with a filemanager (which u get free from the market.) hope that works for u, i did it that way and it worked at all perfectly great ;D

connect your phone to a pc in mass storage mode, drag the apk from your pc into the main folder. then using a file manager on NITDroid, select sd card (the emmc is mounted as an sd card in NITDroid) and you will see the apk to run it.

Thanks!

in order for the menu of multiboot to appear you need the keyboard open. you select an option with numbers.

Everything was fine during installation, then I tried to boot up the new NITDroid, those command lines rolling pretty fast on the screen, then gave me a black screen with '_' on the top left, and the backlight of the keyboard didn't go off....

Any one has the same problem?

using 8GB SD card, not that 4GB they mentioned

TO SOMEONE THAT HAD THE ERROR "text 2 screen..."
Close the back of the phone ;)
I had the error without closing it .. :)

Guys... i got two big problem...
First...Multiboot menu appears ALWAYS, even with the keyboard closed... e this is very boring.
I thought it was an hardware problem... but with bootmenu-n900 that i had some hours ago... no problem like this :(
How can i solve it?

The second problem, that someone in the 80th page have already had (http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=795), is about a big black screen with only a " _ " in the left above corner :(

I've ene tried the advise of cricker:

But not installing it ... the phone neither starts to load nitdroid...

EDIT: and watching the video of rusban down here.... i've noticed that my N900 doesn't show the small symbol under the Nokia logo... that sort of envelop... :/

With 0.0.6 out, and 0.0.5 installed, does that mean all you have to do is run the command given " cd /home/user/MyDocs
wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/NITDro...ing-world.tbz2
bzip2 -d NITDroid-N900-the-flying-world.tbz2
mount /dev/mmcblk1p2 /and

Hey I foolishly deleted all the items in my /etc/bootmenu.d/ folder, including the examples. Yes. I do have one entry, for NITDroid, which means it boots to NITDroid by default. I can still get to Maemo by pressing 0 at the menu, but I need some help getting things back to the way they should be.

What entries do you want to see there? Just normal maemo or power kernel too?

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

You need to create these files:

Standard Maemo
Code:

cd /etc/multiboot.d
cat > Maemo 2.6.28-omap1.item << EOF
ITEM_NAME="Maemo 2.6.28-omap1"
ITEM_KERNEL=2.6.28-omap1
ITEM_MODULES=ext3
EOF

Power Kernel
Code:

cd /etc/multiboot.d
cat > Maemo 2.6.28.10power37.item << EOF
ITEM_NAME="Maemo 2.6.28.10power37"
ITEM_KERNEL=2.6.28.10power37
ITEM_MODULES=ext3
EOF

i got errors while unpacking ..
Can me some say where the problem is??

Thx. ..

Right, not sure if you used multiboot previously, if so, you are going the wrong way to remove it.

Code:

cd /home/user
wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/Jay-c/remove-multiboot-0.1.x.tar.gz

then as root
Code:

cd /home/user
tar xzvf remove-multiboot-0.1.x.tar.gz
chmod +x multiboot-remove
./multiboot-remove
rm multiboot-remove
rm remove-multiboot-0.1.x.tar.gz

if you dont use titans power kernel, also do this

Code:

rm /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.28.10power37
rm -r /lib/modules/2.6.28.10power37

Once you have varified it is removed, you need to make sure you have kexec-tools

Code:

root
apt-get install kexec-tools

That should be the prerequisites for multiboot so you can proceed with

Code:

dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/multiboot-extras_0.1_armel.deb
dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/multiboot_0.2.5_armel.deb

no titan kernel was installed,
no bootmenu or multiboot was installed before ...

i have reflashed my n900 today ... so its on PR1.2 default setting without OC or other tweaks ...

ok, just to confirm you have kexec-tools now and are root?

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

i think so

Code:

Nokia-N900:~# apt-get install kexec-tools
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
kexec-tools is already the newest version.
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

ok, could be a corrupt download. try redownloading:

Code:

cd /home/user/MyDocs
rm multiboot-extras_0.1_armel.deb

Then wget again

Code:

wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/multiboot-extras_0.1_armel.deb
dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/multiboot-extras_0.1_armel.deb

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

I dont have any problems with main server so maybe your connection. Are you using 3G? if you give me your email address I can email you the file and we can see if that will download?

Gotta go back home now where I have no net connection so may not be able to help much more until tomorrow. Used all my FUP a few weeks ago so get a horrible connection between 4pm and midnight so cant even use the phone :(

Standard Maemo
Code:

cd /etc/multiboot.d
cat > Maemo 2.6.28-omap1.item << EOF
ITEM_NAME="Maemo 2.6.28-omap1"
ITEM_KERNEL=2.6.28-omap1
ITEM_MODULES=ext3
EOF

Power Kernel
Code:

cd /etc/multiboot.d
cat > Maemo 2.6.28.10power37.item << EOF
ITEM_NAME="Maemo 2.6.28.10power37"
ITEM_KERNEL=2.6.28.10power37
ITEM_MODULES=ext3
EOF

That worked great. But warning to anyone who wants to use this for themselves, you need to remove the spaces from the filename in the 'cat >' lines.

Also, it doesn't work properly unless I'm unplugged. If I'm plugged in, it takes me several tries to reboot to Maemo. Unplugged it works the first time, every time.

Yeah, thats an issue with multiboot, it refuses to boot maemo if you have the charger plugged in.
