Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
Ok.. So I'm almost ready to jump in to the the android boat with my N900.. one question first..
I'm Using titan's power kernel (with ideal) is that going to interfere somehow? I noticed there is a command you have to run if you're using the power kernel.. what does it do? |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
yes the extra part jsut adds the power kernel into multiboot as multiboto dynamicly flashes to whatever kernel is needed (nitdroid needs a heavily custom kernel that would not boto maemo not) so power kernel must be in their to allow booting it

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
Thanks for the answer! once my n900 is charged to full I'll try and see how it goes :)

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
Hello. I'm trying to install NITDroid and I'm stuck..
I'm following these instructions: http://wiki.nitdroid.com/index.php?title=N900-install and have got to: I couldn't install the kexec tools via Xterminal so I did that via application manager. 1. Download and install Multiboot. I get the error: /home/user # wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/multib..._0.1_armel.deb /bin/sh: wget: not found How can I sort this? Sorry, Linux is new to me so I'll need it step by step please. Cheers. |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
apt-get install wget should do it :)
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
Thanks Steve, I wasn't expecting a response so quick. Tried to do what you suggested, but the results didn't look too good:
/home/user # apt-get install wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/multib..._0.1_armel.deb Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Couldn't find package http: /home/user # apt-get install wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/multiboot_0.2.5_armel.deb Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Couldn't find package http: /home/user # dpkg -i multiboot*.deb dpkg: error processing multiboot*.deb (--install): cannot access archive: No such file or directory Errors were encountered while processing: multiboot*.deb /home/user # What do you think? |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
@browncaravan:
Check your repositories wich ones you got enabled, i think you need devel enabled to get those tools you want to download ;) e: ohh, you just need to type 'apt-get install wget' as root ;) That will install wget... Then go on with the other install (wget multiboot thing). |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
Dousan. Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, my N900 doesnt want to know. It seems I am not able to install programs via Xterminal. The reason for this is because I have edited 'obexd' and 'libopenobex1' in order to have PBAP to work with my hands free kit. I guess Maemo is upset that it doesnt match with what the standard Maemo OS.
Is there any way around this? Here is what Xterminal says: /home/user # apt-get install wget Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these: The following packages have unmet dependencies: mp-fremantle-205-pr: Depends: obexd (= 0.18-0maemo5+0m5) but 0.28-0maemo3 is to be installed Depends: libopenobex1 (= 1.4-0maemo3+0m5) but 1.5-2 is to be installed E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution). /home/user # Does this mean I need to try: 'apt-get -f install wget' to ignore the unmet dependencies? Thanks |

was on maemo and I turned the phone off (which I already had done many times now trying to boot into droid but failing) and then tried to boot to nitdroid but the phone just turned off and now when I try to start it, it just goes to the nokia logo and can't get past that :/ |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
anyone have any ideas or is this gonna take reflash?
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated

Maybe you could download the .deb file from here and do it through app mngr. Just tap on the .deb file when downloaded? http://repository.maemo.org/extras-d...sso3_armel.deb Or maybe you could use the download links in the guide. Just copy and paste in a browser window on your N900 and save them to /home/user/MyDocs and then just do the guide without the wget steps? |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
I reflashed and now the phone works.. weird.. I followed the directions to the letter.. don't know what went wrong.. gonna try again tomorrow :/

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated

Also android will probably never boot the first time, try 2-3 times before using the above. Also make sure your boot file is properly edited via the console in etc/multiboot.d. Here's mine, it's far easier to ssh-it in there ;) Never edit it in windows |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
Thanks Dousan. That's the way I'll do it - download NITDroid and all that myself and install them via Xterminal.
The next problem: Multiboot has been successfully installed. I tried to do the NITDroid bit but it basically says, I haven't got bzip2 installed - which is correct. I am not able to install it via Xterminal as you know, and am unable to find it in the application manager. Any ideas? Are there any other programs I will need to get this up and running? Nearly there.. hopefully. This isn't as easy as I thought. |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
I tried the installation again today and succeeded :) and I gotta say it looks good! can't wait for phone and gps to be available! now to try some app's and stuff

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
So close....
I thought all had gone correctly, but I am stuck at the point where it goes through all the Android files and then gets stuck on a blank screen with only the white cursor at the top left of the screen. As this has come up before I followed the suggestion of going through step 6 again. It didnt work, when I try and load it now it says it cannot find line 1... I'll format the card again and have another go at it soon. I'll let you know how I get on in a while. Thank you all for your assistance. |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
