------------------------------------[HELP]------------------------------------
oh boy... I had android running. I was multibooting between android and maemo without a problems I noticed in Android I have a message that sd card is corrupted (top left corner). I clicked on it and it asked me do you want to reformat it. I thought...yea, lets give it a try we will see what hapends. Nothing happened, I installed few more apps all was good and then when I rebooted to go back to maemo... and I can't! On multibbot screen I chose maemo, I get output that reflash was sucessfull, it boots up again and I end up in a boot menu again. The funny thing is that android boots up without a problem. Now I have a message in top left corner that SD card is blank! Reflash or you gusy have any ideas? ps. I am really forced to use Android now, am I ;) |

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
Just repeat step 6. Extract the tar once again.
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
@browncaravan you need to do this in xterm:
code: mount /dev/mmcblk1p2 /and cd /and rm -rf * tar xvf /home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid-N900-the-flying-world.tar That should do it for you ;) I take you already did download the newest rootfs -the flying-world- (0.0.6)... If not get it here: http://downloads.nitdroid.com/NITDro...ing-world.tbz2 |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
Hi Guys
I had to reflash my device after I 'formated sd card' under android and wipe out my maemo, like I said Lesson learned BUT I was playing a little bit with that phone before I did that and to be honest maybe becasue it was running android for hours (I didn't have time to falsh it) or maybe because sd was 'removed' system was running more smooth and phone wasn't so warm. Even guitar hero was running better then before. Just wanted to share TIP: Install Task killer. when system starts to slow down just kill all the tasks and it will work much better ;) BTW does sd card class impacts the system performance? |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
I just have a few general questions, guys...
1) For those who have overclocked, are the menus 100% usable (as if Android was the native OS)? That is, no lag, no freezing etc etc? 2) Also for those who have overclocked, what sort of battery life do you get under Android? Does it scale the CPU more efficiently now? Not sure if anyone has actually had a go at running their battery down but I'm curious...not much point in installing Android if it is going to burn through half my battery in 2 hours... Anyway if anyone can shed some light I'd be very appreciative. Cheers |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
It is 100% usable without overclocking, but:
-it crashes quite often -you don't have gsm -battery management is very basic and power draw huge -you don't have enough buttons to decently handle the UI unless you quit your volume buttons... Only point in having it right now is getting an idea of how android looks and feels + testing some apps. |

What class is your microSD card? I read a class6 card performs much better than others and just wondered what you had? Also, do you have an approximate time for how long a battery would last? Even hazard a guess if you haven't got any concrete number? Thanks for the speedy response |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
Class 4 4GB but the OS performs decently. No major lags whatsoever.
It's very hard to approximate since it dies on me every 20-30 minutes (playing a lot around the UI and settings) and reboots use a lot of power. Given a more fixed activity (gaming) I have not had such issues but the device ran quite hot. I'd guess 4 to 8 hours with moderate usage... but it's a very wild guess. EDIT: and by 100% usable I don't mean that all apps will run, only a handful, but the general OS is there. |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
Stuck in airplane mode...
Every time I boot the airplane mode is on. This doesn't affect connectivity in any way (except for the apps that won't let me do anything because of it) as I can still connect to wireless networks. However the airplane mode stays on. Once I click on it it grays out until I leave the menu. Tried from the power button menu where it is displayed as being off. Once clicked here, it grays out until reboot. I tried to overwrite the file system in hope of getting rid of it (repeated step 6) but it's still there and so are my apps. Any ideas? |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
I got problem with my memorycard. I installed nitdroid with my new 16gb card, partitioned it to 2gb. Now i flashed n900 back to running maemo. But I cant/dont know how to partition and format the memcard. Im stuck with maemo showing me the size of my memcard is 2gb instead of the 16?
Help would be appreciated. |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
Just got my HTC LEO/HD2 to boot on Android so I'm in love with it again (I got a N900 after that due to WM). So I just saw how I can get NITDroid on here but I'm stuck at "mke2fs -j -m0 -L NITDroid /dev/mmcblk1p2"
It gives me this note: The device apparently does not exist; did you specify it correctly? Sorry I'll do a search after this... Thanks guys..lookin' forward to it! |

Or you could simply download that file from here: http://talk.maemo.org/attachment.php...4&d=1281222395
Instead of painfully creating it ;) |

I can't type numbers from the virtual keypad for some reason...
Just numbers, every other character works without issues. Anyone else experienced this? |

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
Very awkward. Have you done any key modifications lire remaping volume buttons and such?
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
Ok, totally weird! I reinstalled the android kernel properly via terminal and re-extracted the .tar and nor the physical keyboard is working, including the number, but... virtual one still doesn't type in the numbers...

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
I've updated to the latest version of NITdroid and multiboot 0.2.9. And that all works as advertised. No trouble there. I also followed Jay-C's latest instructions to automatically pull the latest titan kernel in to the mix automatically. That also works. But here's my issue; I can boot into the power40 kernel just fine, but I'm used to using kernel-power-settings to manage my overclocking settings. kernel-power-settings was uninstalled when I uninstalled kernel-flasher, per the instructions, and I can't reinstall it because of conflicts with multiboot. I've been overclocking since before kernel-power-settings existed, so I'm comfortable with the old school way of managing the clock settings, but I've been spoiled by power-settings (plus I'm lazy), so I'd rather not have to hunt down those old instruction if I don't have to. Is there a work around for getting power-settings to work with multiboot 0.2.9?

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated
Hi all, I need some help:
I successfully installed the latest Nitdroid build. I was able to boot to Nitdroid and Maemo. I encountered a problem when I stupidly took out the battery while it boots to Maemo. now whenever I tried to turn on the phone it's just the nokia logo and the white light on lower left stays lit then phone will turn off, same thing happens when I slid out the keyboard and turning it on. now my question is (since I don't want to reflash the device), how can I flash Nitdroid and Maemo kernels so that the boot menu appears? Thank you very much EDIT: ok I solved it .... what I did was (just a weird choice of troubleshooting ...) reflash my device with an old nitdroid kernel: flasher-3.5 --enable-rd-mode --set-rd-flags=no-lifeguard-reset,no-ext-wd -f -k NITDroid-N900-zImage-latest -R and then redid the steps of dj_steve. I thought I'm gonna have to reflash the device again whew!. now I can breath back. I saved my apps. |
