There is no way at the moment but when you mount the SD card in maemo, you have root access to NITDroid.

I want to take a screenshot on Android. All screenshot apps require root.

Well i started doing the tutorial and in the part where i had to format the sd card it simply gave me an error and i was starting to get fustrated because i couldn't do it... but then i realized when i checked the back of my n900 and told myself:" It would be a lot easier if i used a microsd card instead of none ahahahhaha "

Hello

is there a way to install nitdroid along with the enhanced power kernels for... (titans kernel for overclocking in maemo)?

I managed to install Nitdroid on my SD-Card and I'am able to boot it by pressing 1. I can boot into default maemo by pressing 0 too but I can't change the kernel, therefore I cant overclock my device in maemo anymore. I guess I have to decide Nitdroid against overclocking options.

You can use power kernel. The guide explains how to do this but the required file is missing from the server.

You can get it from here though

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IVBBY5G0

Edit - instructions:

Download to MyDocs
Code:

cd /
tar xzvf /home/user/MyDocs/multiboot-power37.tar.gz

It should work with power40 but there is a lot of work involved. You get no extra functionality with it though so you might as well use 37 for now.

Disable extras-devel and it wont find power40.

hmmm seems the download mirrors have changed the urls:
wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/multib..._0.1_armel.deb
wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/multiboot_0.2.5_armel.deb
wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/nitdro...nal1_armel.deb
wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/NITDro...ing-world.tbz2
dont exist anymore. But under http://downloads.nitdroid.com/ there is a nitinstaller mayby I should try them.

edit: nevermind the files2 mirrors work.

its actually not hard to get multiboot to play with power 40 you know

run in root xterm, assuming multiboot is already installed
Code:

apt-get install kernel-power-bootimg
cd /boot
mv zImage* multiboot/vmlinuz-2.6.28.10power40
cd /etc/multiboot.d
leafpad Maemo-2.6.28-power39.item

edit the item as below
Code:

ITEM_NAME="Maemo 2.6.28.10power40"
ITEM_KERNEL=2.6.28.10power40
ITEM_MODULES=ext3

I know but was in work before and we are stupidly busy at the moment. Writing those instructions would have taken ages for me and longer to make sure I had written everything correctly.

That is presuming you have leafpad installed. If not, you can use nano, vi or any editor you are comfortable with.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated

shouldnt it be edit power40.item notpower39.item? i changed it to edit power40.item and worked perfect ! finally upgraded from powerv37 :)
many thanks for the info needed to do it dj steve :)

when you open power.item with leafpad/nano it will be a blank page , just copy/pasre info intobit and save...

mornage 2010-08-16 20:28

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated

In those instructions you are editting the existing power39 item file. If you edit power40, you are creating a new one which will leave an item for power39 there.

moepda 2010-08-16 20:29

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic - Updated

sorry i didnt realise as i only had power37.item . so your just edit/overwrite last power.item then ?

i got error line 547.
cannot create /home/user/Mydocs/.nitdroid/installer.log: nonexistent directory

simple just mkdir .nitdroid. it will run fine

Please post any help needed on this forum:
http://forum.nitdroid.com/index.php?topic=86.0

Btw you will need to create the .nitdroid directory manually in that location /home/user/Mydocs/ and then run the installer again.
