I got that when I failed to properly extract the rootfs.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
as far as i see we all get pretty much the same Problem here ;-(
I really do hope that it isnīt because of our SD Cards, especially because of the fact that mine is absolutely new. I am not in a rush, i can wait to find a solution. Hope we find a fix for this ;-) |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
This may be old news, but I just worked out that NITDroid can be shutdown without pulling the battery using the same key combination as on native Android devices.
Hold down the power button and then half press the camera shutter button. Is it possible to run an app from the command line? I've got the Audible Beta but it keeps hanging on the splash screen. I expect this is related to the external flash card issue |

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
Hi all,
Jumping on the bandwagon here... I followed this guide: http://wiki.nitdroid.com/index.php?title=N900-install Upon first boot I got an error about /dev/mmcblk1p2 not being found Followed by: Quote:
So I went in to the boot menu file and changed p2 to p1: ITEM_DEVICE="${EXT_CARD}p1" This change got me by the original problem and I got much further into the boot process. I got up to the point of the android boot animation, but then it just played on repeat for 10 minutes before I shut it down. Do you think my partition scheme could be causing this? Anyway to debug at this point? Thanks, J |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
potentianalyl yes, try deleting boot.log on mem card then try boot again and get and uplaod the new boot.log
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
HOHO, thanks dj_steve, just tried it again on a whim and it worked this time. Didn't change anything, just worked.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
Alas, all is not right in androidville. Once I got in, all of the programs crashed as soon as they loaded. There was an icon of a memory card in the status bar with a warning icon overlaid.
I'm going to rework the memcard with 2 partitions and see what happens. |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
i never saw that error but mem card is normal on froyo

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
Hrmmm no joy.
Boots up and immediately the screen is inundated with message boxes. Quote:
Also get errors for Clock, Calendar Storage, Bluetooth Share, Android keyboard, Messaging, and many others. The touch screen works, i'm able to navigate menus and desktops, but I can't launch any programs :). I'll attach a boot log in case its enlightening at all. Hrmm too big to upload, paste bin'ing it. http://pastebin.com/pttQj2eJ |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
Egh... sorry to flood this thread.
My previous post was using the highest versioned e-yes rootfs I found earlier. I switched over to the dj_steve rootfs from a couple pages back and was able to get a bit further. Still seeing lots of app crashes, web browser, messaging, but I was able to load up settings and try to connect to wifi (blocked by DHCP bug). Will keep my eye out for update :) |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
So... I've decided to try today. But I've stuck on very beginning following the tutorial from wiki.
PC Windows XP 32 bit VirtualBox. I can't find anywhere option to add .iso of mint as the hard-drive. Another one question I couldn't find version 4.2. I've seen 4.1 only. Sorry if I missed some post but is like the official link from that wiki is always up-to-date? |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
Ok, I managed how to configure VirtualBox.
Just to let people know who facing the same issues. I don't know maybe I'm using newer version but that option to add CD drive was available later under the settings before you started the Linux. Also didn't let me run Linux with 512 ram. 800 seems to be ok. Another one thing make sure that you have USB VirtualBox driver installed. Just let windows to find it automatically and it works (this is unusual for windows I know :) ) You can also select N900->usb from the settings before you start Virtual machine. |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
1 Attachment(s)
trying to attach my N900 to linux mint (thru virtualbox), get this error:
(have sd card in N900, and connected via USB in mass storage mode) any help really appreciated, thanks |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
Quote:
Also the easiest way of doing this hassle free is to do this... 1.connect to the virtual machine with a mass storage reader, like I described above. 2. "sudo su"(enter), then "gparted"(enter), keep terminal open 3. select the card, create partitions (100mb fat32 for the first, and then whatever else above 2gb for the other in ext3). apply 4. I have the android package files on my mint desktop, download them, or copy them over with a usb drive, etc. 5. in terminal enter "mount /dev/sdb2 /mnt", this mounts your mc partition, now we set up to copy... 6.cd /mnt (enter) sudo tar xjvvpf ../home/USERNAME/Desktop/NITDroid-N900-0.0.3-1-Demo.tbz2 (enter) it will begin to copy some files over.... umount /mnt (enter) wait to process...and done....that should be it, It took me hours of poor instruction translating to get it down to a few mins. |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
I'm still having no luck getting Flash Player to run. I put it in /system/app/ and it won't run. I check the applications in settings and it says it's there, but still calculating, size 0.00. Anyone?
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
Did you place it onto /system/app then reboot as steve said?

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
Have you thought about trying for a copy of microsoft virtual PC??
That works just fine. If you're having this much trouble with it, why not try something else? Qemu? LiveCD with NITdroid files on USB flash. Knoppix. |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic
would if i knew how :D
edit: my only prob is attaching a USB device and getting files onto it |
