Maybe this will work:
http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/d...orkstation/7_0

I use VMware Fusion (mac) and it's flawless.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

That could be a few things.
GParted - Check that the partition is correctly made.
It can work fine, but still be incorrect (yellow triangle & !).
mke2fs /dev/sbd2 (code could be wrong, check page 1) after you partition with gparted.
Make sure your android.item.ext is correct.
Make sure all files copied over correctly.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

okay when i extracted files from tar, i wasnt admin/root, but it seemed to work.. so Im guessing thats the prob.

also, in my 'android.etc.item' file i had item_id as 3, but you have 2 on page 1.......?

Quote:

ITEM_ID="android3"

edit: also, you say the file is "android.ext.item"?? which is it? (android.etc.item)

Wait for ~30 seconds in the bootmenu so that it really finds your MicroSD card, also you must have the battery cover on and the little support closed(that thing beneath the camera cover), otherwise the card wont be "inserted" in the N900.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

I have a strange problem.
After bootins have errors
not found it: ../bootmenu.d/android.ext.item: line 2
not found it: ../bootmenu.d/android.ext.item: line 3
not found it: ../bootmenu.d/android.ext.item: line 5

any sugestions?

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

sounds like yout android.ext.item is wrong

Mateus 2010-06-29 08:37

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

i have this in android.ext.item:

ITEM_NAME="Android (external SD, partition 2)"
ITEM_ID="android2"
ITEM_DEVICE="${EXT_CARD}p2"
ITEM_MODULES="mbcache jbd ext3 fat vfat"
ITEM_FSTYPE="ext3"
ITEM_FSOPTIONS="noatime"

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

if you extracted without being root thats why you have to be root to extract files

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

I can't access www.nitdroid.com. I got an error:

Well just hack away at the builds.
They're rooted (su). Crack away and see what mods you can do!

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

It's a common problem. What build are you using?
I just reboot and it can fix it.

Sometimes two reboots are required. Also I'd try to connect to a different router if available, might be some configuration issue...

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

@kingoddball i used your small guide for the sfdisk partitioning on N900. it seems to work, i can see them and mount them, but how can i download and untar the nitdroid.tar.bz file. I tried to do it from /home/user/MyDocs with xarchiver but i can't acces the mmcblk1p2 even though it's mounted, must be cause it's ext3. Do you know the code to do it from xterm?

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

Sorry for off-top but I have to say guys, this tutorial transformed me to Linux user. I'm already looking for wide enough window to throw my windows through :D

But going back to the subject. I'm heading local store to buy some mSD card. Any recommendations? I've seen that some of you have integrity issues here. Is like quality matter? Or something else I need to look at?

Uh oh. Is it because Android said you needed to reformat? Tell exactly what you reformatted and how.

Have you tried using a manual configuration for your IP?

Nokia7Linux 2010-06-29 16:58

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

Fixed it ,, by installing the latest Froyo "second build"

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

Hi,
I have few questions and I'm sorry if this is wrong section to put them up, this seemed to be the one to me.

Q; If i install NITDroid, is there a chance to brick my device?

Q; Is the "brick" revertable? If yes, how?

Q; If newer version of NITDroid get released, I have to format my SD to get rid of the old one and re-apply the procedure to install it?

Thanks and sorry if this is wrong section once more. :)
