Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

Ok, I think I can find a spare one of those, do I need to set it as dual boot with a boot menu, or can I run it native (doesnt matter if I brick the phone either :))

dj_steve 2010-07-01 18:38

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

dual boot is newest :)

@*Sonic*: You might want to try the Autoinstaller script, that would take almost all work out of it :)

*Sonic* 2010-07-01 21:08

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

I was thinking about that, but may have to leave it until tomorrow evening now, got too much to do tonight LOL

Will let you know if it works when I try it out

Realy cool,
have it up and running since about a week now.
Currently on zimage4 froyo 4-3
Have a few issues:
No SD-Card, which is weird, since mount shows me that the eMMC is mounted on /sdcard (/dev/block/mmcblk1p1)
And I can LS it ..
(and so I can't download anything.. really anoying)

I cant su (in dev tools terminal)
su: uid 10025 not allowed to su

The wifi works, but only ones.. as soon as you lose connectivity it displays scanning... forever. Disableing and ena wifi doesn't help.. have to reboot and then it see's all accespoints and it will reconnect to one of my stored ones..

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

So.. he don't read my MicroSd... Damn :(

dj_steve 2010-07-02 11:11

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

blk0 wont be touched by installer, it always picks mmcblk1, bootmenu should work with {EXT_CARD}p2

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

Premade cards sounds like a good idea but maybe it could wait a bit until it's working a bit better(so you don't get any dissapointed customers ;)), or at least make sure they know what they are getting...

dj_steve 2010-07-02 11:28

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

of course make sure people know what their getting

dj_steve 2010-07-02 11:41

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

Size      New      2nd

8gb        £19        £13
16gb      £32        £30

I used the auto installer and got the same prob. Just open the Bootmenu file and remove ^M at the end of each line.

I am having the same issue. Could please specify the file we need to edit? I looked at both "bootmenu.conf" and "android.ext.item" under "etc" but couldn't see a "^M" anywhere.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I checked this file android.ext.item which was generated by the sript and it had these signs at the end of each line. After removing them, it worked, might be a coincidence, maybe just rebooting did it. Dont know for sure.

ToJa92 2010-07-03 21:23

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

The android.ext.item is updated server side so it should not contain those signs any more...

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Help/Tutorial Topic

Hmm.. So can anyone help me with the error I'm getting after selecting option 2 'Android' in the bootmenu.

'getbootstate: Invalid selection'.

Any help is much appreciated!

PS: I used the autoinstalller and got no errors during install. I saw the Nitdroid should work screen as well.

Been trying to install using AutoInstaller....

Script works, but I always have problem in Stage 2, downloading the tarball, have DSL, so, have pretty fast connection...download typically starts, but then usually stops at about 2 - 3% complete...retries many times, then fails....one time I got as far as about 32%.....

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Mark

If I understand you correctly, you are worried that NITDroid will screw up EasyDebian. It shouldn't. NITDroid just messes with the kernel and the MicroSD. It shouldn't touch anything with EasyDebian, since you have to be booted into Maemo to get to EasyDebian anyway.

Hope this answers your question.

I don't know what's going on, man. It sounds like there's something wrong with your connection. It worked for me just great when I did it last week. I may try it again tomorrow if I have time, just to see if it happens to me, too.

I had to type in the contents of the android.ext.item by hand because it was corrupted somehow. Then it worked for me.

Hmmm....just seems odd that on the same network at home, my MacBook has been able to download many other large files lately with no hiccups or problems....

UPDATE

Just trying to use autoinstaller again....

Message I now see is:

Quote:

(try: 5) => '/home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid.tbz2'
Connecting to downloads.nitdroid.com | xx.xxx.xx.xx | :80 ....connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response.... Read error (Connection timed out) in headers.
Retrying.
Some time later, I now see:
Quote:

(try: 12) => '/home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid.tbz2'
Connecting to downloads.nitdroid.com | xx.xxx.xx.xx | :80 ....connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response.... 200 OK
Length: 84,186,583 (80M) [application/octet-stream]
12% [ ] 10,339,668 --,--K/s ETA 2:52:40

11:16:32 (6.96 KB/s) - Read error at byte 10339668/8418653 (Connection timed out). Retrying.
So, now it's on 'try 13'.....

Meanwhile, as noted, I'm able to download OK with other laptop on same network, although MacBook is in dock with ethernet cable to my Netgear DSL modem/router...but have used wifi OK with my other laptop too at home...

Any suggestions????
