I found a Samsonite camera-case that fits perfectly for the device.

I prefer to carry it in the side pockets of my cargo pants... if no cargo, then i carry it in the left pocket :)

Three things I must have with me every time I leave the house: Keys, Wallet (money clip), and Phone. The keys goes in the right pocket. The N900, the left pocket in addition to the wallet since I have now decided to never put my wallet in my back pocket.

What's wrong with doing it this way? I am thinking about buying a belt-clip case for the N900.. enlighten me on why this is not an OK thing to do.

left pocket of my pants along with my keys.
now that i really like that, i'm just used to have my keys on the left pocket and wallet in the right. and wallet + n900 doesnt fit in 1 pocket, so i had to take the left one.
i'm usind the cp-321 case, so i put the keys and n900 so that the keys dont touch the open part of the n900 but the leather part of the case.

Mine rides alone in my left-front jeans pocket, because I haven't yet found a belt case suitable for the Mugenized N900. If I could, definitely belt case.

In case you doubt that I would put it on my belt, or think that I'm socially acceptable until I find one, here's the rest of my loadout: (Not that anyone really cares, but someone will probably get a good derisive chuckle out of it. :))
  • Right front:
    • Loose money
    • Gerber multitool (uber-cheap chinese model, for abuse; bottom of pocket)
    • 3.5" liner-lock (clipped in top of pocket)
  • Right hip:
    • Money (stack of $20 notes)
    • Wallet
    • 4" crescent wrench
    • Gerber or low-end SOG multitool (for dual-wielding as secondary to S61)
  • Left hip:
    • 1 or 2 single-cell AAA/10440 flashlights w/ lanyards
    • This is where I typically stuff any random items I need to carry.
  • Belt:
    • 2:00 -- 3" frame-lock (in waistband)
    • 2:30 -- Mini RollyPoly dump pouch, this can hold a 32oz./1l beverage
    • 3:00 -- Keys (on carabiner)
    • 3:30 -- 1x18650/2xCR123 flashlight
    • 8:30 -- SOG S61 (primary multitool)
    • 9:30 -- Mini Maglite (well, it started that way -- a bit of a hotrod, uses the LED module from a 3D Mag)

I guess i fall between the "Directly in my pocket" and "In pouch or case that i carry in my hand" catagory :p

I'd say 30% of the time i keep it in my right shorts pocket when i'm doing something that requires both hands, and 70% of the time i carry it in my hand. I also use my old N800 pouch and a Zagg screen protector for added protection. :D

Similar setup here, but with less knives and more tools of the trade instead. Like my netbook. Yes, there are pants out there with pockets large enough to hold a netbook - and I own them all! :D

I have my N900 savely wrapped up in my silicon case, so I can actually put it wherever there's enough space left without risking a scratched case or screen (God forbid!). Most of the time it's in the upper most right front pocket, though, unless that's clogged with various flash drives and external HDs again.

But seriously, right pocket (and I'm left-handed). Up until today I carried it without a case or screen protector. Today I bought a screen protector because I thought I better be safe than sorry.

weird. i'm outnumbered.
I wear it in my right pocket while right handed in a leather pouch.
together with it's usb cable.

I hate that it awnsers or declines calls when jou fiddle it out of the pouch.more with this problem?

The N900 is a brick, and with such heft and build toughness makes it not require a case just a screen protector and in the pocket ... quite simple really.

Somewhere between a, b and d - either in a soft pouch hanging from a belt loop (the only usable choice if I happen to have jeans with only two useful pockets), in the front left pocket with nothing else when need quick access and no much danger of dropping, or in a cargo pocket with a zipper. Usually have trousers with cargo pockets so any of those apply, depending on the situation and other things I have to carry.

No screen protector; phones are consumables paid by the employer (well I try to keep it safe without keys in the same pocket:) When my N900 will eventually retire change the role from the current everyday carry-around thingy to a general household server/robot controller/whatever, won't matter if there are a few scratches.

You guys all must look like batman walking around with phones on your belt.

Usually in back pocket or front pocket. Have a screen protector on this time. First screen I didn't and the screen got pretty beat up.

It's incredibly convenient. Just flip up my case and slide phone out is easier than putting my hands in my pocket.

Also, when I have headphones in and am walking it fits in it's case perfectly with the headphone connection right between the top flap and the back side of the case.. all of it right there by my left hand accessible with little->no movement.

It's especially easier when sitting in a car and getting into my pockets, while driving, involves all kinds of acrobatics.

Plus... it balances me out.. as I usually am carrying something else on my belt on the other side that would bring a whole new level of controversy to this discussion..

hey guys,1st time posting here..wanted to share if no one have ever tried it out,
any pouch casing for a Blackberry Bold 9000 will fit snugly for your N900...
any one who gets a chance should try it out..
as there are a lot of designs out there for a blackberry pouch..

like all good Fanboys I put my N900 up on a pedestal...

Only joking. Did the PDair ally case thing; very good once I'd opened out the screen aperture, but adds bulk and the open lid/clasp can swing shut and hit/scratch the screen when you use the keyboard.

Settled for leather Nokia CP321 pouch in left pocket. Spare battery in that little pocket jeans have above the right front pocket (we used to call it a Jonny pocket - pertaining to contraceptive storage).

Screen protector of course.
