what Regional Settings have you selected? I have English (USA) and it shows as mm/dd/yyyy

go to Clock - Tools - Regional Settings

Re: date and time

(Same title, different topic) I believe the time and date stored in the N800 are set by the user with no "automatic" updating.

Is there a way to link the clock in the N800 to a site like NIST (http://nist.time.gov) and have the internal clock updated without user intervention?

Re: date and time

I thought I saw an nntp program, but I can't remember what it was called.

Re: date and time

I use ntpdate

http://downloads.maemo.org/product/ntpdate/

I then issue this command to update the hardware clock

/mnt/initfs/usr/bin/retutime --rtc-from-system

Re: date and time

ntpdate appears to be incompatible with my OS version, OS2007.

Re: date and time

Thanks. That version of ntpdate installed (although I don't know where). Now I have a second problem: I have no idea how to get to the CLI on an N800. (It's been many years since I used a Unix machine, and that was only briefly.)

I gather I need the CLI to get the system time and date updated with ntpdate.

Re: date and time

CLI: Install osso-xterm.
If you want to set the date you may also need to install 'becomeroot'.[*]

If you get any trouble with ntpdate there's also the rdate alternative:

[*] I may change a future version of rdate to allow you to change the system time without having to be root, if that's desirable.
