Re: what do you miss in the n900???

The only compliant I have is it is very hard to use with one hand. Making a phone call while driving, etc. is hard.

That's about it.

With voice dialing this would not be a problem ;)

Anyway, i use a car support for my N900 in landscape mode, and it helps a lot. But you need to see the phone and not the road when you do it, a little weird situation.

Agree with what a lot have said.

Miss:
1. Ovi Maps with voice guidance [used extensively on the 5800].
The line it draws along your route isn't really usable.
2. Official Office doc editor.

Good:
Everything else is just fine.
And it runs Quake 3 so smoothly :D

Fluent and fast UI. Say what ever you want Maemo is a LAG. Yeah, open full OS, debian, bla bla. I love that stuff, but man, look how twitchy it is, Like rotating page, all gets black, you loose a bottom of screen the in pops back. You launch Skype everything almost stops, CPU is at 100%.. the you start getting 100s of msgs from skype history. It is a SLOW device. I have an iPod touch since it came, (I won it from CocaCola), it is 400mhz if i am correct, but they knew that it is not powerful, they made a limited, locked OS, with no multitasking. Result? Every single thing works fluently, it's damn FAST. So what I miss on N900? Speed and fluent animations. No choppy, laggy unresponsive ****.

Re: what do you miss in the n900???

- TouchRefocus while recording video.
- Touch Focus for easy focusing without physical button
- Touch Flash for video recording from camera app directly
- Pause/Resume while recording video
- On screen zoom for Camera app and while displaying picture
- Video Editor, cut and join like the rest of N-series
- Recording at 30FPS smooth without frame drop
- Portrait mode (auto rotate)
- Voice Commands
- Set ringtone for each contact and group
- Video Calling (3G)
- Ovi Map with Voice turn by turn navigation
- 3D games

Re: what do you miss in the n900???

I had a tough time las week during my Boston trip due to the ultra poor battery life.
Having to meter my usage while out on a trip sucks big time. Every few hrs I had to hunt around for a wall socket to charge the device.

Lessons learnt... Do not expect more than 4hrs battery life. Anything more is bonus. Always carry atleast two more batteries and the charger.

I don't understand why you want to be locked on something. If you want it fluently, use it like the ipod, otherwise do multitasking at a price of speed. Is your choice the way u use it.

What do I miss? Well, there's a lot actually... but with my N900 bricked (or should I say, borked) now, I actually miss the N900 itself.

It was not primitive phone you're looking at, it's primitive reviewers.... XD

MMS - it has?

No it doesn't. It has fMMS and to put it bluntly, it's not very good. nothing to do with the developer, I use t-Mobile and the user name and password doesn't work and my N900 can't sort out the connection method half the time, and the other half when it does connect it can't do anything.

I have sent many logs to the developer and my 'phone' cannot submit a reply to the server apparently, so continually downloads at my expense the same picture message. 14 messages for 1 photo. And that is WHEN the password works.

MMS it isn't. Annoying and frustrating method of seeing 1 in every 12 photo messages it is. Hardly the same thing.

Stop trying to mislead reviewers and would be purchasers by answering that it does. Just because an app' exists that works for some people, it doesn't do what MMS does on another phone. It is a work around at best, and uses an unstable method that the carrier can change at any time with no warning to the end user.

Stop trying to pretend that an app that doesn't work well for you doesn't work well for anyone.

I miss being able to copy and paste out of my email (nokia messaging). I thought that was practically my constitutional right.

Otherwise, all taken, this is the best computer I've ever carried in my pocket.

Ovi Map with Voice turn by turn navigation...
here in Chile there are no third party companies that would support it on the n900.

Re: what do you miss in the n900???

i would like to see :

- faster and more stable mupen64plus (n64 emulator)
- faster and more stable playstation emulator
- flash 10.1
- improved batterylife or higher cappacity batteries
- free voice navigation
- improved torrent client which does not slow down the n900 as
much or drain the battery
- more games for ovistore.

I know i am demanding :) but they are all (except flash) within an armsreach.

Works fine for me using my bluetooth A2DP/AVRC car stereo.

Maybe start a new thread about what headset you are using?
