No, latest are those which D-iivil uploaded today and they should contain the fix for the problem. Optimized .png files were there a version or two ago already.

Didn't know D-livil had already uploaded the fixed version... ;)

Let me be more specific then; It was intoduced in v2.206.

Yeah I know but I'm just saying that I don't have the problem (and I guess that not everyone else either since there has been so little complains about it) and it might not be completely the theme's fault (perhaps those who have the problem has made some other customisations to some files or something).

Are You using v2.206 or an earlier version...? :D

I just installed v2.208 and it's gone now, so I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the .png optimization process as D-Iivil also pointed out earlier... ;)

There definitely was something wrong with optimized pngs and how maemo handles those. Images were fine when opening those with PC, but when vieweing them with maemo's image viewer some of those were solid black :)

I've used every version and haven't had the problem ever.

Perhaps my N900 is a bit smarter then :D

Found a way how to handle the wallpapers correctly, so now I added an option to choose to use Plastic Wallpapers (the on that comes with scheme) or keep your current custom walls and change just the scheme & fonts & transitions.

Uploading 2.209 to devel atm.

this is awesome! your schemes are a good blend with my fave milky way wp. and this option is a convinient one. i dont have to change wallpapers after i activate the theme. will update after an hour. :D

thank you!

Thanks - just upgraded and rebooted and my custom backgrounds remained intact. Great work!

I've done some thinking and I have a feeling OptiPNG is aggressivly reducing the bit depth or color palette on these simple one-color images, and probably N900 can't handle a 1-bit PNG file (just like it cannot handle a GIF file that's larger than the screen size... probably no-one thought to test that).

In many cases this reduction results in big savings, for example if a file is saved as RGBA but alpha channel is not used at all, simply by converting to RGB it will reduce 25% of the data in the file that's not needed anyway. But if we think it is causing trouble, you can try experimenting with adding these options to the OptiPNG command line and maybe one of them will fix this problem and still allow you to optimize those files:
Code:

-nb                no bit depth reduction
-nc                no color type reduction
-np                no palette reduction
-nx                no reductions

Re: [Release] Plastic Theme + Addon Packs - change of direction

@d-iivil

is there a change in transitions on pleego scheme? or there's just something wrong with my n900 menu UI?

EDIT: i have catorise installed :)

Re: [Release] Plastic Theme + Addon Packs - change of direction

Is there going to be a day in the week where this theme isn't going to be updated? :D

Man, this theme seems to make maemo run faster for some reason. Everything from transition animations to scrolling seems to be WAY smoother.

Pleego uses same transitions.ini as other schemes, so no change there. What kind of problems you're suffering?

oh.....coz the transitions are set to the default one even though i select "use CUSTOM transitions" on the plastic theme settings :)

good thing is i have saved the .ini file from the theme on MyDocs so i just cp it to the themedir.

i also tried rebooting but same, the transitions are like from the default.

maybe i'll try de-install and reinstall the theme, coz the latest update may cause me the issue, i just downloaded the .deb file to MyDocs and open it via app manager to update.

Re: [Release] Plastic Theme + Addon Packs - change of direction

I've noticed the same -pleego theme has 'slow' default N900 transitions.

Re: [Release] Plastic Theme + Addon Packs - change of direction

Now that's weird... and custom transitions works with other schemes?

Can you guys paste me the output of this in xterm when you have custom transitions enabled and Pleego as scheme:
ls -l /usr/share/themes/blackplastictheme-themedir

coming soon, rebooting and re-enabling custom transitions' pleego scheme.

Thanks. transitions.ini seems to be there and permissions are same as on my device... really really weird. Try anyways typing this into terminal and then reboot:
sudo gainroot
chmod 755 /usr/share/themes/blackplastictheme-themedir/transitions.ini

This might also be because some other installed app on your phone since there's only two reports of the issue. Try to remember if you installed something else around same time as you upgraded the plastic theme / addons.

Re: [Release] Plastic Theme + Addon Packs - change of direction

@gabby, just installed catorize. Are you sure you don't have custom transitions? Best way to notice is that when you open the appmenu the background image remains "bright". My transitions shows the changed fade-in effect only when opening first level of app-icons. Second level appears with default-styled animation (when you open a folder created by catorize). Just want to make sure we're not trying to debug something that doesn't need debugging :D

I can change the transitions so that also second level of apps appears with same effect as the top level.

D-livil

Thanks for your effort and inspiration in developing and maintaining this program!

quick question, in order to use add on 2, must i have add on 1 installed?

For some reason Pleego seems to work super fast on my N900 which in turns makes everything else work superfast, which is fantastic.

Thank you once again! Your efforts and support to the users is much appreciated.

that is what makes me think, your transitions does not make the background blur (remains bright and is zoomed).

what i am experiencing now is, the background still is bright when menu is tapped, but the effect of app icons appearing is the default effect.. :)

my custom transitions in /usr/share/hildon-desktop is the copy of the plastic theme transition.ini file.

EDIT: and you are correct!!! every folder that is tapped gives the fade-in effect of the default one! but the rest is okay. :D

Okay, then you have the custom transitions. I'll just add the same effect on second layer of app menu in next version (monday I guess) :)

@d-iivil

for the mean while, i use the transitions.ini file i extracted and copied from blackplastictheme-themdir before the latest update and cp it to /usr/share/hildon-desktop, and then i choose "Use DEFAULT Transitions" on the plastic theme settings :D

and everything is awesome!!!!!

You can place you lockscreens here:
/opt/plastic-schemes/SCHEMENAME/backgrounds/

Then just run the setup again and select correct scheme.

Re: [Release] Plastic Theme + Addon Packs - change of direction

Hmm maybe it's placebo (ie my imagination !) .....it just seems to me the 'fade-out' sparkle that occurs when an app is closed more noticeable with pleego than with other black plastic transitions.

Anyway, thanks for the ongoing work with the themes ;)

The sparkle-image in Pleego is a bit darker so it's therefor more visible.

Just uploaded 2.210 to devel which has tweaked transitions to "support" also folders in application launcher.

Hi D-livil....

4 starters great work on the black plastic theme....

Question:

Is it a known fact that tweakr will not work in this theme?
I can't get the icons to snap in place (small) when I use this theme

If you choose to use custom transitions then tweakr won't apply it's changes to plastic theme. Choose to use default transitions in order to make tweakr "work".

Allthough the snapping settings in my custom transitions is same as tweakr's small-value (4 pixels).

You're not supposed to type in anything. Just tap on the right edge of the font -field to pop up a list of installed fonts.

Hi there!

That's "Amor Text Pro", opentype variant. Probably hard to get as it's commercial font. Hmm, I wonder what license say about using font on mobile phone :)

I saw D-livil use MyriadPro, which came with Adobe Reader and is pretty similar to Amor. Give it a try, I found some fonts in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\SavedFonts\current".

EDIT: I red readme in this dir and its automated backup for fonts, that are in windows\fonts directoy and installed by Adobe product (in my case Adobe Reader). So, look for Myriad (and other fonts) in C:\windows\fonts.
