If I set the main font color to dark it will show nicely on buttons but then text is unreadable everywhere else. So not a good idea.

Basically in a nutshell: buttons must be dark if the main background is dark.

Not specificly the plastic icon folder but the main one that holds all genral maemo icons.

Not at the moment. I'm soooo busy with my actual dayjob since I'm starting my vacation after this week and have tons of things to finish before that (it's funny how it's always the same; suddenly when the vacation comes closer, new things to do starts popping up from my bosses office) :-P

D-Iivil, you know that, but your themes *are* awesome, thanks so much. I used to have 'Dark Blue' but now totally fell in love with Pleego :)

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but when using plego theme I noticed a small possible bug, or maybe something to exploit into a feature enhancement...
When I have a portrait application open e.g. microb, if I lock the device & then press the power button to show the slide to unlock screen, the slide button (little arrow thing) changes from the theme button to the default one.
Not sure if this is something missing from the theme, or maybe a clue that a portrait slide to unlock screen could be possible.
Anyone else noticed this?

Yes, unlock sliders differ depending on the application prior to lockin the phone being portrait or landscape. Also using Pleego.

On another note.

Could the Control panel portion that deals with FONT assignments be "peeled" off as a separate application to do FONTS only? One that was separate from the theme? This would be lapped up like a fresh bowl of Milk I think!

As far as I know that's not possible without deep code hacking. Currently the background of dashboard and app menu is taken from active desktop.

When I had Marina, they were different or there was a blurred overlay or something.

That way, I didn't have a "Busy" wallpaper making the app menu sickening to look at. You might want to try the Marina theme to see how they did it. I had to go all Black on my Wallpaper with Plastic because I didn't like my Wallpaper behind the DashBoard or the app menu.

Please choose to use default transitions @ Plastic Theme Setup and you'll have the same blur effect @ dashboard.

I've followed your instructions to make other themes behave like BlackPlastic setup. That has worked well, except I can't get the newly 'added' theme to change font.

When selecting font change in BlackPlastic setup, the drop down menu allows me to select any font option, but when I reboot I'm stuck at Nokia Sans.

*edit* to be precise. I added Hooterall font as per the instructions below :

Hooterall can be applied as a font for any blackplastic theme, except my newly added (to black plastic setup) theme (istylelightphonegreen).

Is there a problem with the way my fonts folder was created ?

i have a similar problem. i tried to set up R-style gray theme, but the font selection is stuck to swissa font. the setup lets me select other fonts , but wont change them.

Can you guys copy & paste the contents of gtkrc -file of that "new" scheme. File is located at:
/opt/plastic-schemes/YOURNEWSCHEME/gtk2.0/gtkrc

i confirm that issue!
how to reproduce:

1.first choose pleego
2.then open the browser and activate enable rotation if not already active
3.open any page in browser and rotate the device
4.with the browser in portret mode lock the device using the lock slide button
5.keep the phone in the portret mode and press power button
6.now the unlock window will appear and the unlock button is the default one not that used in pleego scheme

Aah, yeah. I forgot to add the rotated lockslider also when I changed it in Pleego scheme. Now it uses the default plastic lockslider when locked on portait mode.

Will add the "neon" slider for portait locking in next update.

I like Plastic Theme very much. But I one problem. It seems that it will revert back to Nokia theme after reboot. Any one else sees this problem?

That's strange. Will it happen if you selet Plastic Theme in "normal" way also? I mean:
go to desktop editing mode
tap top bar
choose to change theme
select black plastic from the list
tap done
reboot
?

i took a closer look at the gtkrc file.. i had edited it earlier.. and forgot it.. so my problem was solved by reinstalling the theme. thanks for help :)

That process if fine. I can select black plastic theme and the reboot.

What happens to me is that after a couple of days use, and if I reboot, usually it will revert back to the regular nokia theme.

Don't know about theme maker since I never got it working on my machine.

You can find sticky thread on this theme area where you'll find all sorts of information and help regarding theme making for fremantle.

And then back to topic; small progress announcement, I've managed to get changing settings work a bit smoother. With next version you don't need to reboot anymore when changing other settings than scheme. Unfortunately changing scheme still requires reboot to reload all theme elements. Next version also makes it easier to convert existing themes into Plastic Schemes, all you need to do is to run one single copy -command @ terminal and that's it :)

I'm also gonna release a separate font changer tool which allows you to change font family and size for any theme.

Try to memorize if you have upgraded or installed new themes before the "reverting back to nseries" happens. To me it sounds like something is triggering command to activate default theme and only thing I can think is some other badly packaged theme.

Version 2.307 is now @ extras-devel. No need to reboot the phone anymore unless you change the scheme :)
