I'll upload it when it's ready. ETA is thursday when I'm back at my computer.

Forgot to merge the easy-scheme-converting to this 2.307 version, I'll add it in next update and also then write new guide for converting themes as Plastic Schemes.

hi! testet this latest theme and foun two issues:
- changing the font on the same scheme seems to not work proprely. the font is changed but not the one in settings menu, shortcut of the contacts in the desktop and in the pop-up menu shown when power button is presed.
- if the reboot is not neded why the message is still shown when you are opperating in the same scheme?
- i don't know what bus some modificatios made my to browser ovi shortcuts dissapear but reverting to the default settings they reappeared

hope i was clear.

anyway good improvements...

thanks!

Message is displayed just in case, because there still are several places which are refreshed only during boot (you seemed to mention most of them). So the message just says that if you want to be sure that everything is refreshed, do a reboot, or you can use the phone without reboot and boot when ever you have time for it.

This would be killer for sure!

The Font Changing portion of your theme is well done!

Ofcourse Plastic Theme users won't do anything with the tool, but other people might find it handy :)

Re: [Release] Plastic Theme + Addon Packs - change of direction

Black Plastic is the only theme I have installed, other than the default nokia theme. So there might be "upgrade" of the black plastic theme before "reverting back", I can't be so sure.

Another thing I do is to use a different image as the background image for black plastic. BTW, I usually choose the Liquid carbon/cyan scheme. Don't know if it matters.

Try to memorize if you have upgraded or installed new themes before the "reverting back to nseries" happens. To me it sounds like something is triggering command to activate default theme and only thing I can think is some other badly packaged theme.

Scheme doesn't matter, but if you're upgrading a theme that's currently active / in use then it's normal that the upgrade script will change the theme to default and you must afterwards manually re-choose the theme (or in this case run Plastic Theme Setup).

Is there a place in the thread that shows a screenshot example of all the themes?

Might be good to have on the first Page?

So I should refrain from updating the black plastic theme? :)

Is there a way to change the default setting so that it will always boot back to black plastic?

Ofcourse not, after the upgrade just run the Plastic Setup again. Upgrades won't come that often, at least not if you're not using extras-devel ;)

Can't really see anyone using this who doesn't have Tweakr, so I'd prefer the grid lock wasn't here.

I enjoyed the Pleego theme, but would prefer a blue'ish variant on it. Back to Blue-Sky for now (not as fond of the cactus and really prefer... "spacy" or "technological" looking lock screens. Custom one of these days...

I am deeply sorry I added option to set snap-to-grid amount directly @ Plastic setup.

FYI; tweakr doesn't work with custom transitions bundled with the Plastic Pack, that's why the option is there and it only affects if you have custom transitions enabled (you can try to set transitions to default and be suprised what happens).

hildon-desktop is restarted if you choose not to auto-reboot. Unfortunately it's not enough, maemo caches plenty of theme elements somewhere (haven't found the place) and that cache is only cleared during bootup.

Exact error message / log of application manager would be a good start.

Won't change anything for some 3rd party hildon-desktop hack (because I think users who have knowledge on installing that, has also knowledge on editing the transitions.tmp file included with Plastic Theme Pack themself) :)

I just uploaded a 2.308 version of Plastic Theme Pack (the base package) to extras-devel. It allows now easy converting existing themes into Plastic Schemes. You need to type two commands to terminal and that's it (rootsh needs to be installed):
Code:

sudo gainroot
cp -rf /usr/share/themes/THEMETOCONVERT /opt/plastic-schemes/NEWSCHEMENAME

After that you can run Plastic Setup and choose your new scheme. Setup script will take care of removing unwanted files etc.

Oops, forgot to wrote the "-rf" option. Updated my post below.

Re: [Release] Plastic Theme + Addon Packs - change of direction

Ok, promoted the 2.308 to extras testing, please test and vote:
http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...c-theme/2.308/

Also updated the opening post's instructions about coverting themes into schemes:

CONVERTING OTHER THEMES INTO PLASTIC SCHEMES - version 2.308 or later only!
You need to have package called "rootsh" installed, so install that first from extras. After that you just need to copy the desired theme folder into /opt/plastic-schemes/ folder and that's it.

Detailed instructions:
- First we need to find out the folder of the theme to be converted. Type these into xterm:
Code:

sudo gainroot
cd /usr/share/themes
ls

That will give you list of installed themes (their folder names actually). Built in themes are stored in folders "alpha" and "beta". Alpha = NSeries, Beta = Digital Life.
Don't care about folders called "Raleigh", "Emacs" or "Default", they are not actual Themes.
If we want to make Digital Life to be Plastic Scheme, then we would use this command:
Code:

cp -rf /usr/share/themes/beta /opt/plastic-schemes/DigitalLife
Note that we will name the target directory as "DigitalLife", that's the text shown @ Plastic Theme Setup as scheme name. That cannot contain whitespaces, but capitals are allowed.
You can replace the "beta" with the theme directory you want and also the "DigitalLife" with name you want.

If we want to convert the NSeries theme to Plastic Scheme, then we would use this command:
Code:

cp -rf /usr/share/themes/alpha /opt/plastic-schemes/NSeries
You must be "sudo gainroot"ed all the time or copying will fail.

Re: [Release] Plastic Theme + Addon Packs - change of direction

Hi, just upgraded to current version and as usual plastic theme installed with "default settings". So went to settings, reactivated my preferences and did not activate auto-reboot. But just when it finished setting up the theme the device rebooted!
Did I do something wrong or might there be a bug in the setup (switched behaviour of auto-reboot or sthg like that)?

Hmm... that's strange. I cannot reproduce the behaviour myself (just upgraded from the repos myself, so I'm using the exact same version as you are. Can someone else reproduce such behaviour?

Could it be possible that you just accidently tapped the "reboot" -option? Maybe I should add more space between the reboot -option and save -button...

Re: [Release] Plastic Theme + Addon Packs - change of direction

Definitliy not. I'm using a special kind of 'pen' as my fingers aren't that slim. And I very closely looked at the setting of auto-reboot as I first wanted to reinstall maenotify which has a bug and gets deactivated after a change of the theme. So I was waiting for plastic setup to finish and just when it was about to show the last message the device rebooted. There also was no message indicating that the auto-reboot is about to be executed, it just rebooted.
Strange thing, this N900 ;)

Okay, if no "rebooting in 5 seconds" -message wasn't shown, then it was something else that made your phone reboot. Maybe it was the restarting of services or then wrong position of moon and stars at the sky, hard to say :)

Re: [Release] Plastic Theme + Addon Packs - change of direction

Im loving the black plastic options and have installed the add ons today and am using pleego, which is really nice.
The only problem is that now everytime a text comes in and I click the left circle the phone hangs and end up with a big black square on the screen with nothing on it and cant do anything except reboot.

Also , when Im texting I sometimes get characters instead of letters without using the ctrl key, and it takes ages for what Im texting to appear in the white box as I type.
Has anyone else had this and found a way round it?

Also, would LOVE a dark purple if youre not busy!

Sounds like something is eating up your cpu. You could use conky or htop to see what's happening.

It adds support for easy converting any theme to customizable Plastic Scheme (read opening post for more info). Also some small tuning made to Setup panel.

Setup quit running from the control panel?

You can launch the setup from command line with this command:
/opt/rx/setupblackplastic

Yes,
I loaded another theme called MurrinaNightOrange just to try it from the Plastic control panel and now nothing runs from the control panel! Kewl Ehhh?

So I ran your command above and it ran. I selected another of your themes and tried to save and reboot but nothing happens. Can I load the default with a command and reboot back? Obviously something in that theme borked some stuff.
