Will it work if you remove the "Clowns" and "MurrinaNightOrange" -folders?
rm -rf /opt/plastic-schemes/Clowns

Edit: seems like the package murrinanightorange doesn't include about any theme elements, so it' clearly a broken package. Removing the direcotry /opt/plastic-schemes/MurrinaNightOrange should do the trick.

Nope, and the funny thing is that the theme still looks the same after a reboot?

Which theme?

Anyways, I'd suggest you to uninstall the Plastic Theme Pack (and addons), then run this command @ terminal:
sudo gainroot
rm -rf /opt/plastic-schemes
rm -rf /usr/share/themes/blackplastictheme-themedir
rm -rf /opt/rx

Then re-install them.

After looking into deeper of Murrina -package, it seems like it's not even Maemo 5 theme. Or at least not the one that's found from repos:
http://repository.maemo.org/extras-d...nanightorange/

Package size is only ~3kb and it includes only one file: gtkrc which isn't in format of Maemo 5.

Kewl, I'll give that a go.

Just in case app manager has a problem, what are the package names?

Code:

apt-get remove --purge black-plastic-theme
apt-get remove plastic-addon-pack-1
apt-get remove plastic-addon-pack-2

Note that I edited more rm -commands to my post below.

Great :)

Just finished uploading (once again) new version of black-plastic-theme (2.310). Just small change to the Setup script which hopefully makes the restarting of services more failproof.

I just uploaded a 2.308 version of Plastic Theme Pack (the base package)
to extras-devel. It allows now easy converting existing themes into Plastic
Schemes. You need to type two commands to terminal and that's it
(rootsh needs to be installed):

Code:

sudo gainroot
cp -rf /usr/share/themes/THEMETOCONVERT /opt/plastic-schemes/NEWSCHEMENAME

After that you can run Plastic Setup and choose your new scheme.
Setup script will take care of removing unwanted files etc.

It's working just fine! Tested with alpha theme.

Q1: There is a reverse command to make converted theme dissapear from plastic setup?
Q2: Can you include the comand line in plastic theme? Like plastic theme setup will scan usr/share/themes and than the user can choose what theme to convert.

Now. Offtopic: I sow you are using Filebox. As you know there is an option in filebox to chose the Plastic Theme icons. If I choose that then all my doc, xls... appear in filebox with the same icon. Could you update the plastic icons so we can see nice out in filebox?

Thanks!

Q1: just delete the directory from /opt/plastic-schemes/:
sudo gainroot
rm -rf /opt/plastic-schemes/SCHEMEYOUCREATED

Q2: it would be possible I guess, but then again... it's really not purpose of this theme :D

Offtopic question: Don't know how filebox works, maybe the developer just copied my folder images. In default filemanager the system will use standard (hicolor) icons for filetypes if they are not included with custom iconset.

awesome packs, i am currently using the pleego one thats
added in pack 2, i just love the matt finish. but im new to this so umm it would be gr8 to have matching desktop icons like ones shown here
http://www.engadget.com/photos/aava-mobiles-virta-2-hands-on-and-comparison-shots/#3166463
(known, not too clear)
but how exactly do i do that? or is it possible to be added to the next update if there is one? sorry but extremly new to this.

Just noticed that using cp -rf command to convert themes to schemes ins't very good idea because it won't copy the actual files. Instead it copies symlinks if there are ones (almost all 3rd party themes have symlinks pointing here and there). So I wrote a little convert script which will tar the source theme and then untarts it to target folder.

I will include this script with next update of Plastic Pack.

for newbs like myself who dont know how to mod the system files in a future release are you going to incoporate the ability to use any theme in your theme set up.

Hi Guys,

Great themes, not had any real issues so far.

But I have a question. ( or 2 )

Why when the package updates, does it use the default settings and not the last settings I set it up with ?

Also is there any chance of a neon / techno type theme ?

thanks.

This is really a good one. Yes. Why if I'm using Black Plastic with Plego Scheme after every uptade I have to select again Black Plastic? It wasn't supposed to remain active if I already using it? As far as I remember this should be the output.

Upgrading wipes the settings because I made it to do so. I made it act like that because I though it would make more sense if the settings would reflect the real situation (during upgrade everything is wiped out and files really are set back to defaults). I can easily change this in future updates.

Q #2: we'll see :)

No, during upgrade everything is set back to defaults because all files are first wiped clean (uninstalled*) and then new files are placed to their places (installed*). It's exactly same procedure as if you would manually first uninstall the package and then manually install it again *.

* the way debian packaging works

Re: [Release] Plastic Theme + Addon Packs - change of direction

Okay, version 2.311 is @ extras-devel. It has now simple command line tool for scheme conversion bundled with it.

Just open xterm and type "convertplastic" (without quotes) and hit enter. It will give you guides on how to do the conversion. Make sure you are running the command as regular user, not root (don't type sudo gainroot or anything before the command).

This version will also not delete your Plastic Setup settings during installation.

Re: [Release] Plastic Theme + Addon Packs - change of direction

I love this theme. The eye candy in the deep blue option is amazing. Hoever, I use a lot of my own customisations (backgrounds, icons, etc). Each time I update it reverts back to default and I have to copy back all my customisations using WinSCP. Is there a way to update and not have the theme revert to all the defaults?

I have got round this by copying everything to the default theme but this means I lose any benefit that come when you update.

Re: [Release] Plastic Theme + Addon Packs - change of direction

Just installing 2.311 and am curious how the setup now works.

EDIT:
Most of the settings in Plastic Theme were kept but font was reset to standard. And theme itself was reset to standard too. So I had to open up settings, choose font again and confirm the settings.
Could you probably add this to the installation script? Re-setting the user chosen settings to the system. So after upgrading the user only has to reboot to make the theme active again. That would really be great! Users who wish to change some of the settings still can open up the dialog and set them as they like before rebooting. But all users who just wnat to kepp their old settings would only have to reboot and everything would be fine.

And again: great work! :D

Unfortunately I cannot make installer to autoset Plastic Theme back to active theme (or I can, but don't wan to), because the installer cannot know if you're upgrading or doing a fresh install and it also cannot know what was the active theme before you started to upgrade (it would be against good policy to force Plastic Theme as active theme if user was using another theme but has Plastic Theme installed and just wants to upgrade it).

Font selector shown Nokia Sans since the uninstaller of previous version sets Nseries as your active theme (if you were currently using Plastic Theme before you started to upgrade) and it has Nokia Sans font in use (in short terms, font selector always autoselects the current system font).

So now you just need to run the Plastic Setup once after upgrading and Apply settings. Is it too much? :)

To keep your customizations you need to create new scheme for your custom stuff:
sudo gainroot
cp -rf /opt/plastic-schemes/DarkBlue /opt/plastic-schemes/CustomDarkBlue

and then do your customizations to that CustomDarkBlue -scheme (and set to use that scheme). That way they won't get overwritten during upgrade :)

For icons it's the same. Create copy of plastic icons:
sudo gainroot
cp -rf /usr/share/icons/black-plastic-icons /usr/share/icons/custom-plastic-icons

Then edit your icons as you want, and then edit this file:
/usr/share/icons/custom-plastic-icons/index.theme

Edit the line that says "Name=black-plastic-icons" to "Name=custom-plastic-icons". Then go back to edit your schemes gtkrc -file (/opt/plastic-schemes/CustomDarkBlue/gtk-2.0/gtkrc). Edit the line that says "gtk-icon-theme-name = "black-plastic-icons"" to be "gtk-icon-theme-name = "custom-plastic-icons""

That's it :) Now you have your own custom scheme with it's own custom iconset and they won't get overwritten during upgrade.

Is there a way to easily change the button color in a Black Plastic theme? I know it's supposed to be "Black Plastic" and all, and I like the shiny little gradient on my buttons... the only thing I want to change is how *dark* it actually gets. I just want to be able to get the graylevel to go to a "dark gray", not pitch black as of now. (Or even a setting where I can define my "button darkness" or "button color" or whatnot.

Possible? Some gtk file I can edit? Or what?

Buttons are png images so you need some image editor. Images are located at: /opt/plastic-schemes/SCHEMENAME/images/

Just updated, checked settings, apply and reboot, when the phone rebooted , all I got was a black desktop.Tried pushing the power button, then the screen "swipe to unlock" showed, but when I swiped , all I got was the black desktop.
Rebooted the phone again, and.......normal desktop was back.
Tried to recreate problem, but now it works everytime I change someting and reboot

I guess the moon and stars were in wrong position again.

I have experienced many kind of weird **** happening when rebooting the phone over and over again (testing other apps and ofcourse my own things). Power off and Power on has always helped though :)

hiya,

The only way I think you could improve this in any way would be...

When selecting the theme to use, ie DarkPurple or DeepRed, could you change the theme of the black plastic setup to the new theme so we get some idea of what its going to look like.

thanks

Changing the whole phone's theme on the fly isn't doable, but it's definitely worth of thinking through to maybe change the buttons @ Plastic Setup to match current selection. That should_be_easily doable I think.

Well this hasnt really anything to do with the theme. Its a replacement of a cricual system component. So I anticipate the answer: No...

Yep, as stated before; people should install these kind of large 3rd party patches themselves if they feel to do so.

For icons it's the same. Create copy of plastic icons:
sudo gainroot

Thanks that worked a treat. Except for my calendar. I know most people don't customize their calendar but I do. Anyway to do a similar trick to keep my custom calendar settings?

You need to copy "calendar" folder from default Plastic Theme into your CustomDarkBlue -folder also and place your mods there:
cp -rf /usr/share/themes/blackplastictheme-themedir/defaults/calendar /opt/plastic-schemes/CustomDarkBlue/

After doing that you must run the Plastic Setup once.

I for my part am seeing all yellow highlights in PleeGo in a light blue (Fonts, desktop-pressed icon color, the bottom line on the background pics, scrollbars). The existing grey highlights are great ('back' in upper right corner, selection in email).

Just my 2 cents ;)
