Re: Nokia fansite shuts down in protest of crappy Nokia products
Really Can't Believe Those Guys At Nokia !! Nokia Can be compared to the politicians here in india !! you see your own guy who is capable of changing india but u either kill him or suppress him !! N900 is such a outstanding device !! currently with its 5mpx TAG its the best nokia product made by them !! but guess what no application market, no proper marketing !!
but u can't blame nokia cuz they are having most of the market globally !! nokia will bounce back ONLY when they loose all their consumers and start selling 20mpx phone at 300$ !! They are launching Meego !!! Lol most of my friends now only here android is good android is that android is currently the best !! samsung is this and that !! well no word of MEEGO anywhere to be heard !! they even insult me for buying nokia n900 just because it is nokia !! well i am a person who will stand against the majority if i feel i am right !! just because i am right and i have been blind fold by nokia !! cuz they are best !! just that they have cheap people who own and direct it !! "In July 2005, Google acquired Android, Inc., a small startup company based in Palo Alto, California, USA.Android's co-founders who went to work at Google included Andy Rubin (co-founder of Danger), Rich Miner (co-founder of Wildfire Communications, Inc.),Nick Sears (once VP at T-Mobile),and Chris White (headed design and interface development at WebTV). At the time, little was known about the functions of Android, Inc. other than that they made software for mobile phones. This began rumors that Google was planning to enter the mobile phone market." We got Android 3.0 coming up back to back in just 5 years !! Neways thats that !! i guess Nokia should do some SWOT analysis !! Strength- NOKIA Weakness- Maybe you all know that Oppurtunity- i guess they don't wanna take any if at all they get the leave it Threat- Android, Nokia's Own Customers currently if u analyze nokia is still there on the top of the mountain...but i just have one question !! TILL WHEN?? i still love nokia and my next phone will be N8 !! |

Well to be honest, I remember having the 5800XM and stumbling into sites like Symbian-Guru, and I couldn't understand how people could form entire websites over an OS like Symbian. I kind of even felt a little bit sorry for them!
I knew of no other better OS' but I just never found the OS itself that interesting to understand why people would write about it daily. I mean it had remained unchanged since the year 2001! I say to the rest of the people stuck with Symbian: your efforts are greatly appreciated, but it's time to find something new where you can be of more assistance! For e.g. (truly) open platforms. It's on sites like Maemo.org where enthusiastic people can truly affect the community. |

They saw the writing on the wall. Symbian is going mid-low end, which is a market where most people won't even know what Symbian is. The N97 probably didn't help matters either.
I'm hoping for a stable platform with Meego. Although I have no intent on buying the first 2 Meego phones by Nokia. Android is a safe market in the mean time and I'll probably revert the N900 to an offline pocket tablet. So come on Nokia, deliver us a solid platform. You've already got my money on the N900 (not much to complain about here), but you won't get my money until you can prove that Meego can deliver. Even then I'll probably go the Intel route just for the x86 compat. |

Re: Nokia fansite shuts down in protest of crappy Nokia products
We can sit here and claim that it is/was Marketing that holds Nokia back, but thats just delusion.
The mainstream may claim we're *geeks* because we care about hardware details while they completely ignore hardware details when they buy their iPhones, but there's a deeper truth. Nokia almost HAS to publish specs for their phones for savvy buyers to buy them because Nokia hasn't always traditionally brought out great software experiences. The n97 is a prime example. The n95 for all its laudable features was slower than molasses compared to the swiftness of Maemo and iPhones today. A company like Apple doesn't publish its hardware specs and doesn't have to because they have a proven track record of putting out great software experiences, regardless of the hardware. It doesn't matter whats running under the hood, Apple hasn't traditionally released a product until the experience runs smooth like butter. So regular consumers haven't learned to care about hardware. We, on the otherhand, have been forced to care about hardware as a way of finding which products will likely offer the best experience. I hope this paragraph gets across the main idea I'm trying to present. We as nokia fans have traditionally had to watch Nokia very closely and inspect their products well before we buy them (through review sites and youtube videos, etc) because I'm sure we've all been burned before. The n97, the 5800XM (which I bought and returned TWICE because I wanted to love it so much but it just sucked). Next, Symbian60 v3 was a good OS in the days before the iPhone. It was a good OS on my n80, on my 6500. It was a good OS for the n95 and all the other keypad only phones. The s60 ui was not meant for touchscreens. The debacle of s60v5 has left a sour taste in my mouth and i'm sure many others. S^3 looks like what s60v5 should have been, which is too little too late. In short Symbian is dead and this is a good thing. If s60v3 made its way to what is currently s40 land, it could live on, at least for a little while longer, but the idiots in charge won't do it. Nokia needs to abandon it and choose Meego for everything. EDIT Choose Meego for everything or a combination Meego and Windows Phone 7 (Sorry had to do it, I'm really excited for WP7). |
