looking for stopwatch application
 

Anyone seen or working on a stopwatch application? I'm looking for something I can used to conveniently record times to see which route of my daily commute is the fastest.

Ideally it would allow you to predefine different routes, then time/date stamp it when you start and end. With many entries, eventually I would export the data to a spreadsheet for statistical trend analysis. :o

UI Interface would need to be finger tap able because using the stylus while driving = dangerous.:eek:

there maemo chron i believe, maybe that would sort of work? youd have to enter in the data by hand eventually....

this would be a really cool little plug in or something for maemo mapper.

I've saved a copy of the first on my N800 and bookmarked it. It works for me. The start/stop button is large enough to be pressed easily with a finger.

This does not really satisfy the original poster's requirements, but may be of interest to others who are looking for a stopwatch. It might work for the original poster, but will require selecting the result, copying to the clipboard, then pasting it into the spreadsheet.

I realize this is an old thread, but now that I have OS2008 with Flash support, I went looking for a Flash-based stopwatch. I found a decent one at www.online-stopwatch.com. You can download the .swf file to your local filesystem and run it offline. Simply grab the .swf file and save it somewhere. Then open it with File Manager. It seems to use a little less CPU than the JavaScript-based stopwatches listed above, but it would still probably drain your battery pretty quickly.

online-stopwatch.com is great. The largest size can easily be read from across a room. It's neat to see how long it takes to do simple everyday tasks. I put the swf file on the N800 and ran it in the background. It lost time rather quickly in that mode. It seems to require quite a bit of cpu power. Anyway, I'm really happy to have it on both the desktop and N800.

Another twist ... you could make a bookmark to the file so that it opens directly from the browser instead of going through File Manager. -DF
