It is trivial. Grab the SDK, my source package, and the newest source tarball. Reapply patches. Fix the (usually) trivial failed patch. Ship.

I am waiting for some consensus on the libsdlttf2.0-0 topic.

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

Well, new version is up. I personally never upgraded to the "problematic" libsdl-ttf2.0, and this worked for me, so I guess it will work at least for everyone who also did not.

On the good side, I was impressed by the noticeable speed bump in at least one commercial game. Do note that my expectations are usually low, though.

NOTE: You should ensure you have access to older versions of the package before upgrading. If you find it breaks "your favorite game", all I will be able to say is: "Sorry. Try again in a later version" _unless_ the regression was caused by me (for example if it doesn't happen on the Pandora).

I've got latest libsdl-ttf2.0-0 installed and had no issue updating. Plays perfectly and Mario Kart 64 (only game I had time to test) has had a noticeable speed bump.

Very quiet in here. Probably because everyone is going nuts over the Rollercoaster 3D demo (played it, its average).

javispedro thanks for the update :)

I really don't see the speed upgrade tho...
I wonder if we will see someday StarCraft64 playable.

5-10% isn't exactly so noticeable but its a step in the right direction. I am getting at least 2-3FPS more in several games and load/save state will come in handy.

As for StarCraft64, I recall reading it was fixed in most recent version (which Adventus hasn't released) perhaps I am imagining it, however.

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

Tried Mario 64, It seems a mite bit smoother/faster. Not able to load my save game in Zelda OoT but I understand that's the config issue still. I have tried a few games that would not work before (Indiana Jones/Bangai-o) and they still don't.

But we have an update.....woot. There is still life in the project:)

Anyone know if there's any change in the compatibility? Or just speed improvements? :)

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

Mario 64 now runs constantly at full speed.
Improvements in both StarFox and Zelda OOT.

I wish there was more work being done on the gpu plugin for an even bigger speed improvement.

It's pretty much all performance and a little stability. As there is no modification in the graphics engine I very much doubt this has changed compatibility at all (however it is in fact possible).

As I said on the previous page, the main worker behind the GPU plugin (like myself) is currently full pelt working for university. As such I imagine some time in November we will see a few updates and more over the Christmas period.

With IzzehO's config file Banjo Kazooie runs at full speed %99 of the time with sound enabled :D The sound doesn't stutter in gameplay anymore :)

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

Tested it. Very, very, VERY good. =D

The main problem: N64 emulation always relied in DirectX for video emulation. Direct3D6, precisely. OpenGL never was in focus, portability was not in focus. And glN64 appeared only when N64 emulation already was sort of "semi-dead". Maybe they never have thought that an cellphone - OK, N900 isnīt just a cellphone - would be powerful enough to emulate the powerful "Ultra 64". lol
Riceīs Video Plugin has OpenGL as an option too, but it is always slow than D3D options.

In the other side, for compatibility...Hacktarux HLE was always faster than Jaboīs HLE. So, itīs a very good option for us. Anyway, compatibility of Jaboīs HLE is superior. Even an LLE option was considered, and I think that it works, but it is REALLY CPU dependant...

And we have the core problems, that cause compatibility problems too.

So, we have a bunch of problems in Mupen64, but they are conception problems. Itīs a wonderful piece of work, donīt get me wrong, but maybe a emulator constructed from the ground up can have better results. And yes, I know that it is a work for Hercules. The eighth. But who knows? =P

Thanks to the OpenPandora Mupen64Plus developers. And Iīm really grateful for javispedro for the port for N900, and IzzehO for config files. =)

Wow, so bad english...

Oh, I didn't realize he's working on the GPU plugin as well. Well, november is quite soon.

But people don't need to get their hopes up because the chances of the dude to start working on it right away are not big since he'll probably want some rest (like we all would)

i have it attached for you. it was taken from one of the old mupen64plus builds. extract it and place it in /usr/lib/mupen64plus and it should give you the option to use gles2n64 v0.0.3 in the plugins tab :)

i am getting a copy error when trying to move the 0.3 plugin in to the respective folder from within cuteExplorer

is there another way to do this?

Try FileBox, it's way better than CuteExplorer in my opinion.

It might be nice if the first post showed there was an update in the edited header.

You know, where it says "New Update: July 11th Please Read" ? ;)

But seriously, how does one update? I can't find any info on the front page.

through app manager, it would come up in the update section, make sure you have extras-dlevel enabled

I haven't been able to update Mupen for weeks, it keeps giving me a failure to update message. I thought this was common and understood? I remember people discussing it earlier; I assumed it had not been fixed.

What might be the problem? Should I uninstall/reinstall? (I made some changes to the config and I'm not sure if I remember how to do them again.)

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

Hello,

I installed the latest update and now I cannot exit the emulator with Sym/Ctrl+Back Arrow. I used to be able to do that and open the multitasking menu and close it. Now, when I try to close the emu, it freezes Maemo completely and I have to shutdown the N900.

Anyone else having this issue? I have power kernel40 installed if that makes any difference.

Thank you.

Related to libsdl-ttf2.0? If so, try again.
