Re: Ovi suite / Nokia PC suite stops Xvid Codec working.
Interesting. So Nokia does install a filter. I guess it sets itself the default codec' I'm sure you can change it if there is some codec settings. If not, just install ffdshow and make it the default codec.
This is the reason I use a dedicated player which doesn't rely on Windows codecs. There is not even a single benefit sticking to WMP. |

I can totally understand your point of view though. At least as you say your not wrestling with with c**ppy M$... As for other phones, I'm not convinced that's the case, all my previous phones have had great software/hardware, including all my previous Nokia's... It's just the last 7/8 months that have been awful with Nokia. |

It's nothing to do with Windows. Fair enough if you think WMP and IE are fail. I'm not disagreeing am I? All I'm saying is that installing and selling duff software/hardware is unfair... |

Re: Ovi suite / Nokia PC suite stops Xvid Codec working.
Hey Guys,
There is an easy fix I did it a while ago, dont have my pc with my so I cant remember the exact details. You need to run services.msc and disable the offending nokia service. You can get the name of the service (cant remember) when you recieve the error message when trying to play/encode divx. Manni |
Re: Ovi suite / Nokia PC suite stops Xvid Codec working.
Just had this problem myself with Ovi Suite taking over my Xvid/Divx Codec. Its a damn pain in the *** and rather fail on Nokia's part.
To just suggest "oh install VLC, kmplayer whatever" doesn't exactly fix the issue, just ignores it. Next time i try to rip a DVD/ re-encode etc, id rather Divx or Xvid be used and not a Nokia Codec i didn't ask for in the first place. People are free to use whatever software they like. but when someone is being nice and giving a heads up on the issue, i wouldn't expect the thread to turn into a load of "M$ is fail, IE is fail, i know better anyway" crap. The issue is clearly caused by nokia's programmers. |
