Is it possible on T-Mobile to get a Data plan and text plan and use Skype?
 

I pay $94 a month which almost comes to $1200 a year! I could totally cut costs by using the Data+Text plan on Tmobile and just use Skype and keep my number right?

Not all the places is cover by 3G. So you will be in problem if there is no 3G.

I would recommend just getting a cheap voice and data plan. With the data plan you can text for free (with Google Voice using TOR or DC). No short codes though. And you can text from anything that can access the GV website. :D. Though it does require getting another number..

Well I've never had a problem with not having 3G and plus there's always wifi. So I should be good right? And also T-Mobile's being stupid and a bunch of tight asses and won't give me good plans or the "dumb" phones plan

Now somebody wants to save money with t-mobile and insults them right here.
I am usin T-mobile flexpay(500 min) 29.99/mo, no contract + unlimited web(for dumbphones) 9.99/mo on my N900 and I am very grateful for that. Saves me a lot of money compared to ATT.

you can use it on 2g edge but if im not mistaken only the voice skype, i never tried video.

I too am on the 500min $29.99 w/ $9.99 web plan. Usually about $48.00 with taxes (depending on how many sms I do).

Mostly use Google Voice for texting, and if needed, could start using SIP calls via Gizmo/Google voice if I got close on my minutes.

Look into GVmax, a google code program that sends sms's to your google talk messenger.
