This is for Windows Mobile and is not applicable, please look at this thread that covers the subject in some detail.

i read that
not my point
the technology used is resistive

is multi touch possible in n900?

Giddyup!

This would be amazing implemented in an n900 application. Like a cooliris style photo album.

But it doesn't look possible.

It is applicable...except it'd be really hard to do this for maemo. It'd take someone with supreme knowledge and experience with both maemo and win mobile. To do this, but alas, it's only an sdk currently and I know of no developer here thats good on experience on both platforms. I posted it cause I thought it'd make a good conversion. There is hope but not very much of it :(, still exciting though ^-^!

Well there's several ways to do multi-touch (only one is possible on the N900 though if ever implemented). It was done on the n800 too.

- real resistive multi-touch requires a certain kind of resistive touchscreen. Technology that wasn't readily available when the N900 was first planned and being produced.

- pseudo multi-touch using a combination of hardware (like proximity sensor and touch screen) or having the system remember where the screen was first pressed and then apply that with the second. I believe the second has been done on the n800 and maybe the N900.

Why? would would you rather me say it in a simpler term...It is possible? Make a bigger point next time...or are you too illiterate to speak in larger sentences.

Hmmm. I find your insults intriguing and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

If you want to imply that there is no intelligent life amongst developers around this forum, nor any amongst the talented individuals involved in Maemo, then perhaps you might wish to consider that it is not me suffering from illiteracy, rather, and I wish I didn't have to spell this out, I was simply stating that you might want pose a few less assumptions about the world around you.

The answer is that the resistive grid does not support multi-touch - for sure you can munge together a pseudo fake multi-touch as people did on the 5800 / N97 and so on, but your options are pretty limited in that regard - so much so that the idea never progressed beyond a few game like demonstrations. It's just not very practical.
