I fail to see why people continue with these posts?
Nobody cares if you didn't like the device, it's your opinion (keyword here, guys)

Repeatedly stating that you don't like the device won't alter the opinion of anyone else. Obviously, this is a sign of buyers' regret. (Everyone has buyers' regret eventually.)

I had an N97 before I got my N900, I absolutely despised the phone but I didn't express how much I hated it to random people over the internet, resulting in the inevitable "THIS PHONE IS SO BAD, I'M LEAVING THIS FORUM, PLEASE GIVE ME ATTENTION SO THAT I FEEL SLIGHTLY IMPORTANT"

Instead of trying to enforce your opinion on other people (whose opinions differ from yours), maybe you should just move on and buy another device that better suits your needs.

I'm no fanboy, I don't care if Nokia produce one million bad phones but if they produce one that tailors to my needs, I'll buy it.

Every N900 owner should have to spend a month using an Openmoko phone first. Then we'd have no more threads like this.

FYI, any device that have 3G or 2G support is capable of making phone call. Therefore a laptop with 3G support will enable you to make a phone call. Do you call that laptop a phone? ehh Neh!

N900 is not a phone because it is not a phone, it's called a phone because it has a phone application built into the OS. Why it's not a phone? Because the OS is not a smartphone OS. Maemo is an internet tablet OS since 770, N800, N810. Those device lacked of 3G support, but running on the predecessor maemo OS.

Nokia did not promote N900 as a phone or smartphone, N900 was called an "INTERNET TABLET with Phone capability" Why? because it's based on previous N-tablet device but got 3G connection upgrade onto it.

You may ask every N8xx users and see what they say. Learn the history before blindly saying. N900 is not a phone people, it's an mobile computer with phone capability.

i do have some complaints about it but it's due to the limitations that i can do with the phone, but the phone it self is a monster. i think you're just after something with ease of use and pretty to look at.

why did you even bother purchasing the phone in the first place? you should have atleast read about something other than a brochure to find out anything good about a phone or even any other gadget

Maybe you should have, if your last NOKIA phone was that bad then as a "community" member you had a "duty of care" to inform other potential buyers of this phone.......thus you "fail" as a Nokia community member.........................

He is not *enforcing* anything, just stating his opinion, and using your logic, I dont like the iDrive in my 535d so maybe I should sell my car (1 year old and loose about £10k) and buy a new Mercedes E-Class, and hey If I dont like that, I can sell it and mabe buy an AUDI ???, this is a £500 Phone we a re talking about, yeah maybe NOKIA should refund him in full and then he can look at buying another phone................and Nokias marketing dept can take some blame for "buy another device that better suits your needs."......they DID effectively miss-sell this "phone."

Ok, I think your list of issues can be divide into two types:
1. Complaints I've heard before. Most of these issues can be addressed via 3rd-party apps (e.g. MediaBox, MyContacts etc.)
2. Weird issues that never happen to most users.

I'm not sure why you got all these issues with your phone, but the way I see it, there are two options: either you got a defective device which doesn't work as it should, or it is something you did with the device (installed some alpha-quality software that broke it etc.).

The rootFS partition doesn't become full for no reason. Even by installing lot of software from extras devel, it is quite difficult to fill the root FS, but it could happen by installing buggy software (for instance, a program that creates a huge log file and keep it somewhere in the root partition.

If you want to solve this issues, I'm sure people here would be happy to help you, all you need to do is to write something like "I got these issues, will you help me solve them?" instead of the "this device is crap..." approach you used.

You can start by typing "df" in the terminal and post the results here, and we'll see what we can do from there.

If he/she doesn't like the N900 then just go buy something else. my recommendation is "iphone 4" and don't hold it without a case and carry an extinguisher with you incase it catch fire on you. :D

The whole semantic battle around "it's an internet tablet with phone capabilities" versus "the N900 is a phone" is rather pointless and allows for a circular, masturbatory conversation that only is resolved via one simple idea - which one suits your stance best?

To me, it's a phone tacked onto the existing Maemo internet tablet platform. Maemo existed without a telephony stack much longer than it has had one. If you want to argue that, go ahead, that's my personal stance and I'll force it unto nobody. All I ask is that you don't force your stance onto me.

Now... with that said. Let's pull that out of this thread. There's been a ton of that discussion since the announcement. It's not resolved almost a year later. It won't be resolved now.

As it stands, this thread... if people can answer, they should. If they want to attack, that's just plain sad.

When I said "everyone has buyers' regret eventually", I didn't mean for EVERY product. I meant at least one point in life, you will regret a purchase.

I extremely doubt that the BP disaster is in any way comparable to your misguided phone purchase (which you had the choice to do.)

You had the choice to buy the phone, you (in your opinion) made a bad decision and are now angry at your own mistake. You attempt to relieve this anger by disregarding everyones opinion but your own.

Most people that sign up to forums already have the phone. The others would research it using *gasp* Google.

I assume that the only reason you still hang round these forums is to spread the good word of Apple to all that do not follow?

The N97 is in no way comparable to the N900. Different operating systems being the main point (my opinion = S60 is far too simple for me)

Your actions on this forum strongly resemble that as a "troll" (I hate that term) All you really want to do is annoy people/anger people etc

As an added note, I don't care if you bought an iPhone 3GS. It tells me that you like your new device (as I like mine) and you're considering buying the newest version of the manufacturers handset. If it suits you, good for you, please enjoy it instead of going on a crusade against other phone manufacturers.

Research is key to finding a device that suits you.
