Transmitter - Radio Text
 

Hi,

Before the PR1.2 update, when I played music to my car radio through my FM transmitter, the radio would read the text of the song and artist - so on my display it would, for example, read 'The Beatles - Ticket To Ride'. Pretty nice touch I thought to myself.

However, now when I do this it simply says 'Nokia' and nothing else.

Does anyone else know about this? There doesn't seem to be any settings to re-enable this - no settings in the transmitter.

Its a shame they take a nice little touch like this out.

yes, it was there. unfortunately they removed this nice feature!

The 8 character display is not radio text. It's the just station name and must not be used for stuff like song information according to the RDS standard. The radio text field is 64 characters long and can be used for song information (as some radio stations do).
Unfortunately radio text is not supported by many car radios.

There are fields for both station name and for other metadata, like you can transmit song genre through RDS, song names and such... Just try to change the FM transmitter frequency when you're listening to it in your RDS Radio, the radio will automatically scan for the new frequency and jump there..

Is there a way to change the default transmitted text from 'Nokia' to something else, I mean could it be user customizable?

That would be a nice feature for example to fake a radio station and prank mates. Rdsnotify doesnt seem to work for me.
Any clues?
