I did as the instructions said without any errors reported in the terminal.

Did it again. Went to the target directory to make sure the files were there. They were.

Upgrading to version 0.2.2 from:
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=443

you are supposed to install a new requirement:

apt-get install python-pkg-resources

Sometimes i feel so stupid when i can't do the simplest things..
After the authentication problem, i uninstalled dropN900. Then i saw the solution, so i tried to do the trick and make it work.
I have downloaded dropN900 & the files needed but it seems i can't Untar dropn900.0.2.2.tar.gz into /opt/dropn900..

xterm gives me:
/home/user # tar -xvzf MyDocs/dropn900.0.2.2.tar.gz -C /opt/d
ropn900
tar: can't open 'MyDocs/dropn900.0.2.2.tar.gz': No such file or directory

Both files downloaded in the Documents folder..
Am i missing something important?

I never had anything to do with linux or command lines, but the last 4 years with N900 and of course the help from the community, i have completed succesfully much harder tasks than this one..

Thank you in advance (o:

There I probably fixed it, if not remove the latter red from the line.

MyDocs is the whole directory structure you see when you use mass storage when connected with PC. The documents folder resides on mass storage/.Documents so it becomes MyDocs/.Documents

and on N900 Mass Storage is mounted as MyDocs under /homer/user

So what you see in Mass Storage on windows PC

F://Nokia N900/ is in N900
/home/user/MyDocs/

@Marshall Banana or @jonnenau
Any chance we can get this fixed version in the repositories?

When i made the adjustments for the new dropbox api i tried to contact the original author jonnenau, but he didn't respond.

Here's a link to the last post from jonnenau in this thread. He doesn't want to maintain it anymore.

I tried to become the maintainer for dropn900. When i asked in #maemo how this works, i was told that the original maintainer has to agree to a request on transfering maintainer from maemo.
Either no maemo "official" has contacted jonnenau or he didn't respond.

So the original author is not interested and i can't maintain it, because i don't have permission or whatever you want to call it.

What about a fork?
You can open a new thread application name such as DropN900-banana and add the first author in the credits.

Re: [Announce] DropN900 - the maemo 5 DropBox client

That's what I was thinking. You could name it maedropbox or whatever & upload it. Or Drop900, leaving the N out.

When did you ask?
As I became maintainer happy easily by just pushing one button on the package site (in a few hours/days) a few months ago. (just make sure you are loggeng in ;))

So please try again if you are still interested to support Maemo!
TIA

Hello. I am the author of Droper, I noticed that it's mentioned in this thread, has anyone tried to compile it for N900? I'm curious about whether it would work without modifications :)

cheers

I did port it to the N900 about a year ago.

It works without modifications, but I did make changes in font and icon sizes to make it better fit the N900.
And it is missing the specific Maemo back buttons, you have to go back to a previous screen via the dropdown menu (or use the arrow button on the bottom of the screen if you are in a folder screen). The app is also portrait oriented only, like the Symbian version.

Hi!

Is it in the repos, or downlodeable somewhere? It looks pretty cool!

Would be awesome if Droper could work in landschape and including back button. Look like a very clean app :)

Would be great if somebody could fix it up a bit, allow landscape use amongst other things. Any chance you could help us ade? BTW what document editor do you use?

Hmmm, now I checked it: I already made it autorotate supported :)

Here is the deb file I once created (thumb2 compiled).

I am not planning to put it in the repos. If someone wants to, he or she can have the sources.

@Tech-Kid:
You are referring to the icon next to the rtf file? That's just an icon related to the filetype used by Droper. It is not related to any document editor.

Marshall Banana was going to give DropN900 some love, I don't know what happened about that.

Any reason for not sticking droper in the repos?

According to the previous page he still tries to become maintainer of DropN900.

No, just lack of time combined with other (non-Maemo) priorities.

mr_pingu 2014-10-13 21:45

Re: [Announce] DropN900 - the maemo 5 DropBox client

Ade, also sources with this autorotate fixed? I *might* try to fix back button and have another try to get something into the repos. I am not a coder though. If I manage something it'll be in the repos. There's however a good chance both don't happen. In that case I am already sorry for giving someone hope with this post. No promises, as I don't know if I am capable of this :P

I'm working on it. I already ported the newest version of the dropbox python sdk. There's a command-line client included in the examples. Currently i'm adding a sync command to it which uses the "delta" function. Once it works in the command-line client, i'll add it to DropN900 and upload it to the repos.

P.S.: The delta function facilitates differential sync. and should speed up the sync process.

Here is the source tree. To be found in dropbox of course :)

Edit: removed sources as I contained the (secret) application key. P.s. the developer himself wants pick up the Fremantle version.

I'm not sure if you can install python-setuptools and python-openssl form the application manager. You can install it from command line with the following commands:

Code:

sudo gainroot
apt-get install python-setuptools
apt-get install python-openssl

After installing python-setuptools and python-openssl you need to follow my post here, because i still didn't upload the fixed dropn900 to the repos.

P.S.:
To all who are waiting for the upload of the fixed version to the repos: I dont have much time to work on it atm, but i hope that will change soon :D

Hey guys, if anyone is still interested in the Droper sources, I took Ade's modifications and cleaned them up and added them to the repo, here they are:

https://github.com/lawand/droper/rel...tag/0.5.2maemo

Now, if someone is feeling like packaging them for extras-devel, I wouldn't mind that at all :P I'm not sure how to do that myself..

Cheers.
Lawand.

I tried but it seems that i have problem installing python-setuptools and python-openssl.

I get this message :

home/user # apt-get install python-setuptools
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
python-setuptools is already the newest version.
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
autodisconnect: Depends: bc but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

how can I install dropbox-python-sdk? or is there another way to install it offline like a deb file or something?

The Dropbox can't open at all.

Thanks for your help guys.

Re: [Announce] DropN900 - the maemo 5 DropBox client

This looks like a library path issue.

What's the output when you execute the following commands in terminal:
Code:

run-standalone.sh python
import sys
sys.path
import OpenSSL

You can exit the python shell with CTRL+D. Is '/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5' in sys.path? If not, please try this and post the output:
Code:

run-standalone.sh python
import sys
sys.path.append('/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5')
import OpenSSL
