Why cant people read! This thread would of been great for just updates, be good if the mods would only allow certain people to post in particular threads. We'd get further faster.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

Hey, just wanted to share some great things ! (found thx to dj_steve)

so here is THE thing : changing lcd_density to 240 in /system/build.prop file resolves every problem about resolution (like notification area) with the latest build !!

here is the procedure for those asking :

Code:

1st of all, you need to be on maemo 5 and have a text editor such as leafpad (my preferred, more user friendly than vi) installed and of course you need to be in root to do this ! ;)

run a xTerm session

root (or sudo gainroot, depends if you are in RD mode or not, or if you have installed another package to get the root access)
mount -t ext3 -o noatime,rw /dev/mmcblk1p2 /and
leafpad /and/system/build.prop

then search for the line "f.lcd_density=160"
and replace it by "f.lcd_density=240"
(without the quotes - by the way, if it's too big for you, you can enter any number that you want but i would not recommand you to go beyond 240)

after that save it by clicking the upper contextual menu

exit leafpad

exit xTerm

reboot your device and voilaaaa !

screenshots are in the new topic about NITDroid moding and customisation

Will NITDroid run the sling player app (the offical $29.99 one from sling media)? If so this answers the sling player issue for those of us N900 users.

Since it's stock Android, yes. However I would wait until it's more stable, IE fully working graphic drivers and 3.5G support.

Hi Steve,
can you customising some virtual buttons just like the HTC hard button? would be very useful when using NiTdroid without sliding out the keyboard.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

Can someone help me out?

I followed the instructions on the NITDroid website and installed a the 5.3 version of the NIT droid software. It booted fine without an issue.

I later installed (after a complete wipe of my N900) Steve's 6.0 release. The bootloader starts without an issue, I select the option to boot into nitdroid and it starts to load. However, at about the spot where the previous version goes to the Matrix-style loading screen, I now get a blank screen with only a little blinking cursor in the top left corner. I left it overnight and same thing in the morning.

After rebooting, I went back into the Maemo software, mounted the /and partition, and started digging through the logs. I came across the following, which I think is the point of the problem. I've since re-installed and tried again, and some issue. Any ideas?

Coffee,

You might want to take a break from this and google for some linux or unix primer or tutorial....as it's really wise for various reasons to have at least some very basic understanding of what people are telling you to do at the command line....

Just a thought.....

Well.. if people cannot read or differentiate the words "Development and Announcement Thread" versus "Help/Tutorial Topic" then I highly doubt any form of manual will work..

I've got a 8GB SanDisk SD card, but the 4GB version appears to have errors, hence they doesn't work.

First of all I think Steve needs a big round of applause for making this work.

Anyone tried flash 10.1? Does it run better than flash in maemo5 pr1.2?

Because there are no brands called "Scandisk" as Scandisk is a Windows Utility used to detect errors on the hard disk. Sandisk is the name you are looking for. If Sandisk is not supported, then you should go and buy a new card since they are so cheap these days selling for $15USD for 4GB.

BTW.. have you noticed your posts were moved to the other thread by a mod? Maybe you will get more friendlier answers posting to the right thread for help and saving people from trawling through pages of "How do I run Xterm"?

When it boots up have you tried pressing 0 on the qwerty keyboard, this should then take you into Maemo.

Have you created an item file for multiboot? It's clearly stated in first post of this thread.

Hi thanks for you help - I had received the same advice on the nitdroid help topic.

However it didn't work for some reason would you mind looking at my ssh log and make sure i did not make a mistake?

Did you download the latest kernel 2.6.28-05 and new multiboot and multiboot extras? if no just install them and you will have a fresh new Nitdroid on your phone (thanks to everyone that made that this thing working flawlessly) (sorry for my bad english) :)

dj_Steve is AWESOME !!!

I have installed last version of NITDroid with 3d support and downloaded Raging Thunder from Market......fantastic !

Ah, for lcd density set 200 instead of 160 beacause at 160 all icons are too small ! I'm old and my eyes......lol

Thanks, I figured out the problem: I was installing the kernel .dpkg which isn't necessary when using the new release (it's included in the tarball).

Thanks,

guys why do u want to increase LCD density?

i mean cmon, the icons are small because its elegant and cool!!

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

I also noticed when trying to drag down the status bar with my finger, it didn't work that well on default density, i had to use my nail,or it would just not come down.
When changing my density to 200 i was able to drag down the status bar using my finger again, so that definitely improved the usability for me (it's awesome you can just change that setting to your needs)

It's a bif confusing though, i'm not that technical when it comes to drivers, but in my experience it's usually the 2D acceleration that works, the 3D that doesn't, but the NITDroid team managed to get it the other way around, hehe ;) (but i'm sure they'll find it out soon)

Guys do you know how to make the accelerometer to work in games, it's not working since the last 2 updates. accelerometer only works for the phone auto orientation but for the games that requires accelerometer it is not working eg. labyrinth, abduction etc.
