Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

It's unreal! I think I just get used to a fact that we don't have really good games on maemo but few minutes with asphalt and you understand what that mobile is capable of.

One question. The whole menu seems to have some delays it's not so somooth as in maemo. When you press an icon you have like 0.5 sec of delay. Is it becasue we don't have full working 2d?

The only problem I noticed is a Luncher. It dies often and the whole moving animation just doesn't work for me, beside this OMG!

I just got >700 aps for testing ;) will let you know

yep the lag is always going to be their on first run (android does wats called DexOpt on each app the first time they are run so can cause minor delays at first load, 2d gfx is also issue too

Thanks Steve, you're right, second time I use any icon it's better.

2 mor things
1) Interesting behavior with Guitar Hero 5 demo form the market. workes flawlesly without sound, when you enable sound you get noticable frame drop. I assume it's because sound eats up cpu

2) when you hold power button to reboot I always get this flikering reboot menu.

It's great that charging is working and browsing... it's fast!

i just installed everything according to the first and second post, but i can't install multiboot-power37, the url http://downloads.nitdroid.com/Jay-c/...power37.tar.gz
is either very slow or it doesn't work for me and i can't find a mirror.

if i try to start android now, multiboot tries to start android but then returns back to the menu in less than a second.

Tried to do this. Mounted the mmcblk1p2 and then it failed to install nitdroid final1 part, it failed to install. Something about Android not being installed onto /and.

I tried to restart my phone and now Maemo wont boot! It just keps on the white dots and never goes past that! What can I do apart from reflash the phone and losing all my data?

Thanks

Try it on my Mac, no go. Try via WGET, no go. MicroB fails.

It's not my connection, I have tried 4 different conn's. Help?

does having a class 6 microsd card help much with speed for nitdroid?
im trying to decide between buying a normal class 4 32gb microsd card
or a faster class 6 but less size 16gb microsd card for my phone?
help?

That's a good question. I'm ready to squeeze every last erg of speed out of Android now. It's usable now, but I want more oomph!

Q. I am sure a stupid one though will ask anyway. When you partion the SD card the fat partition, is it simply free space for use or required/ dedicated for the NITDroid use, apps etc or if non, will NITDroid use harddrive?

The FAT partition is used by Maemo for sure. I haven't checked to see if it's used by Android yet.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

Fair enough, so Android doesn't require allocated space for apps and running etc.

His servers had connections issues, they don't appear to be fully working(at least the forums are a little bit slow still). Steve is on vacation right now though so he couldn't really do anything about it.

Are you or any else able to upload it somewhere for me?
I am running Titan's kernel and am worried if I reboot, it could be in trouble when I boot back to maemo.

It's all good, it was uploaded to megaupload :)

If downloads.nitdroid.com keeps timing out but you can download a bit each time, then run wget with the -c option, which continues from where it left off last time. Make sure you check the MD5 still matches (with md5sum <filename>).

What I did notice is though very quick to recall it all. The last couple of lines of text when Android is loading says something about swap files to mmcblkp3 which was an ext2 partition I was allocating to install Easy Deb on.

coffee: the device names are swapped round in nitdroid and multiboot. the swap line you see is nitdroid activating maemos emmc swap partition to give full 1gb memory access to nitdroid.

ma-3x: if you look at my youtube videos you will see that overclocking is doable in nitdroid but only manually and its highly not recommended as nitdroid doesn not scale the cpu clocks properly yet and tends to lock cpu at a high clock speed.

godofwar424: using a 4gb sandisk microsd ?

dave1010: aware of the download issue its due to a network issue my host had yesterday thats still causing some gremlins and issues - its being looked into as i speak.

on way back from hols now so ill be repling a fair bit for next few hours
