hmmm, made as told in the first post - but don't have "maemo" in multiboot. how can i boot in maemo now? can i just flash back from R&D mode(btw how do i do that so i wouldn't mess up with maemo, i mean wouldn't delete anything - only changing mode) so multiboot won't work or any other suggestions?

EDIT:
just needed to press B, though all time and language settings are gone

hei Steve.

First of all thnx for the excillent work. i have one querry. I have downloaded all the prerequisits for the android. but my internet connection on N900 is not very good so its not possible to download NITdroid (approx 160 mb) directly on it. is it possible that i download the file on my pc and then copy it to my N900 and install directly. If yes then can u please state what should be the code then.

Connect your N900 to your PC and copy the file to the documents folder. Disconnect the phone and then open the file manager on the phone and navigate to the documents folder. Press and hold on the files and select the move option. Move one step back and select N900 at the top of the file tree. That is the MyDocs folder that DJ Steve refers to in the instructions.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

Awesome job dj_steve and the other people involved in this project! I am really looking forward to when u solve the 2G/3G issue. I am considering running Android on full time then.

Although i have a slight problem, which I want to ask about.
In my home I have 2 WLANs and I can only find and connect to one of them, the other one is not visible and not connectable from Android even with manual settings. My computer, Maemo, other phone connects to this access point fine. ARe there any known compability problems with Android and some setting on the WLAN?
I am going to try to reconfigure the access point if its possible to see if I can find any bug.

Thanks again for an awesome job and keep it up!

/Xenji

dj_steve - loving every bit of your work.

Just curious, what are you now working hardest on?
More like, what can we expect next and any super rough ETA? =)

dj_steve 2010-08-01 12:40

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

can some one say how long the first boot will take?

dj_steve 2010-08-01 12:47

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

usually about 1-2 mins, if its taking longer than that reboot and it should work

mornage 2010-08-01 12:48

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

1st boot is quite slow. It'll depend on the speed of your sd card (I believe) but you can expect up to ~5 mins

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

@steve and jay-c nice work with the new build and multiboot. This build runs really good and smooth, some lag here and there, but overall rally nice flicking around in :D

Havemsome questions:

1. How to access music within the android native player. I can only see some sound files thats in my MyDocs directory. If i use astro file manager i can access the mp3's on emmc but only play one at a time. How to fix this?

2. How to close apps in android, it only seems to be my back button that works? The unlock/lock slider on the side...

Other than that... Sweet... ;)

android closes apps as needed back and home buttons are sufficiant

What...? IT does not progress past the welcome screen - just shows the touch the android, and no matter how many times I touch him he refuses to response.

He has ED?

@xenji, try to setup your WLAN to WPA or WPE instead of WPA2.

rickysio 2010-08-02 15:26

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

Finally got the damn droid to budge - turns out that it likes it landscape.

WPA2 works fine for me, as far as I can tell, though... Have to stick to Maemo for the rest of the day for communications, so I can't test my connection.

i installed Nitdroid according to the instructions listed... after rebooting and selecting the NITDroid...05, the screen flashed with commands and suddenly became blank with only a "-" dash on the top left hand corner ... i waited for 20 minutes but nothing happened... i had to remove my battery to reboot back to maemo....

Please help ... thanks a lot in advance

It's probably the same issue as others has experienced. Just re-extract to mmcblk1p2.

If you're using the newest (the-flying-world) just do this:
mount /dev/mmcblk1p2 /and
cd /and
rm -rf *
tar xvf /home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid-N900-the-flying-world.tar

If you're using 0.0.5-4-final just do step 6. again, from the first post. Leave out the mkdir part wich is already there ;)
