And that's exactly what I mean by "correctly". Also just making it run as fast as flash 10.1 should run on a device like this.

I think there is a difference between Flash 10.1 on Android and regular Flash 10.1. Not sure though, last time I asked my friend he said he can't go to Hulu since they filter for the Flash version that's used on mobile devices (though he gets around it).

Sorry about the trouble.

Can you explain these troubles??
I don't seem to be having any adverse issues, at all.. Was confused with the uninstallation of Power Kernel, otherwise no issues.
Details? Does it HAVE to be uninstalled? Its working fine as far as I can see.

Hi!

installing NITDroid via the instructions on the first post of the thread is awesome! and made as simple as possible.

BUT:

* The Rest of your memory card will be usable by Maemo totally normally but the nitdroid partition is not seen in file manager etc
* You need to decide how to best partition YOUR card, i personally have my card partitioned as ~6gb fat32 and rest (~1.9gb) as ext3
* Some suggested size ratios are (in MB fat32/ext3 layout): 2GB: 100/1900, 4GB: 2100/1900, 6GB: 4100/1900 8GB: 6100/1900, 16GB: 14100/1900, 32GB: 30100/1900
* in below command REPLACE the <SIZE> text with your choosen fat32 size
Right thats enough crap now onto partitioning:
ignore errors whjen runnign umount its normal sometimes
Code:

Code:

umount /dev/mmcblk1p1
sfdisk -uM /dev/mmcblk1 << EOF
,<SIZE>,C
,,L
,,
,,
EOF

the partitioning part I cant make work! i get an error "Cant stat /dev/mmcblk1p2: did you blah blah it correctly?" i though that this part is gonna be easier for me coz i did successfully partitioned my 32gm mass storage to pump the applications memory size.

please help! :)

EDIT: im really enjoying this, even though i messed up the device twice now :D

Sounds like the partition did not work as it cant find the drive try the step below again. Note only change is from the original post u actually remove the symbol < > on boh sides of your number this should create the partition corectly.

umount /dev/mmcblk1p1
sfdisk -uM /dev/mmcblk1 << EOF
,<SIZE>,C
,,L
,,
,,
EOF

so i will do exactly like that? (except for <SIZE> i put 2100/1900 for 4 GB i think) no other in puts on

,,L
,,

EOF

Thanks :)

EDIT: what does EOF stands for? End of F?????

Just put the size of the fat partition. You need to type

Code:

umount /dev/mmcblk1p1
sfdisk -uM /dev/mmcblk1 << EOF
,2100,C
,,L
,,
,,
EOF

EOF = end of file (I believe)

p.s, there is a help thread you know ;)

Awesome!!!! thank you!!! :)

gonna give it a try after re-flashing (my idiot instincts made me flash the n900 without reading a "how-to" uninstall multi-boot :D).

good thing there is the thread like this, the youtube videos requires me apc to do the partition !!

I had the some problem, it's easy to solve!
Instead of Replace <SIZE> with 4100 try: 4096 - that should work.

The thing is, my SD-card wants als MiB instead of MB - which producer is your sd-card from?!

EOF match <<EOF. Basically this is saying from <<EOF, read the next lines as standard input (ie keyboard) until you see EOF.

You can also do <<LETSGETUSSOMEANDROID

and end with
LETSGETUSSOMEANDROID

But, EOF is the standard way of doing this, meaning "end of file".

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

I'll ask again:

Is there a way that NITDroid put all the android folders / app data (i.e. download folder, android folder, ...) not on Maemos "/home/user/MyDocs"?!

Maybe on the vfat sd-card partition or only ONE folder for all this stuff?! Cause on the one hand I don't like to have so much disorder and these intermixture of NITDroid and Maemo there, on the other hand I am a bit scared about removing the wrong files!

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

Simple way is open up system/etc/vold.fstab and change mmc0 to mmc1 this will make androjd mount microsd in theory but not tested

AlphaX2 2010-08-12 14:54

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

Thanks Steve, I'll try! Reporting here later. :D

This is what it was original:

Code:

dev_mount sdcard /sdcard 1 /devices/platform/mmci-omap-hs.1/mmc_host/mmc1
dev_mount sdcard_ext /ext_sd 1 /devices/platform/mmci-omap-hs.0/mmc_host/mmc0

What exactly have I to change?! I tried this:

Code:

dev_mount sdcard_ext /ext_sd 1 /devices/platform/mmci-omap-hs.0/mmc_host/mmc1
and also

Code:

dev_mount sdcard_ext /ext_sd 1 /devices/platform/mmci-omap-hs.1/mmc_host/mmc1
But changed nothing, any ideas?!

Should also be possible to delete the hole 2nd line, isn't it? So it could take only use of the 2GB NITDroid Partition?!

Hi Steve,

could you tell us, what the problem with multiboot is / was?!

BUG (?): I've saw some graphic glitches at Maemo, after done reboot from NITDroid. Is that known?

And can you maybe so kind and tell us some information about the next (1.0 ?) release ... what are the features and maybe a release date.

If you've a lot of work / to lazy no problem...so i still wait. :D

EDIT: I've reported this also to BugTracker.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

ive said before i wont announce a release date as their can never be a specific one.

never heard of any gfx gliches and shouldn be any either.

also for everyone who hasnt seen the first post i want to make this more widely known to people especially those who are new.

i am NOT the only dev working on this project, we also have e-yes and Jay-C working on seperate items in order to better work with our time, so please dont forget to thank them aswell as me as they are just as deserving if not more deserving of the credit

thanks

Technically speaking the only problem was the interaction with kernel-power, or the incompatibility. This should have been fine if ppl just had accepted the situation, but there were quite many attempts to fix it, most of them technically too challenging to be presented on this forum.

Nevertheless, the "user experience" of this version of multiboot was so lousy, that I decided to recall it.

Next version of multiboot will be only available through an integrated NITdroid installer. Available soon.

Multiboot on its own is a very useful application. I use v 0.2.5 to multiboot nitdriod, titans power39 and default maemo and it works quite well.

I was waiting for an update to multiboot but i was a little disappointed when i saw last 0.2.9 release and the need to uninstall not only multiboot but also the installed kernels.

I was tempted to try to just update multiboot (manualy repalcing the deb contents) but i wasn't brave enough to do it.

Anyway i would like to see just an update to multiboot 0.2.5 fixing the existing bugs.

Thanks to the multiboot/nitdroid developer team.

Just a guess, but since the GPRS/GPS/GSM etc unit is not loaded/working (in this release, anyway) that you will find it quite difficult to get the SIM card contacts off w/o a fair bit of work. However, there have been great strides made in the data work..

Hi,
I don't quite see any problems. I have not uninstalled 0.2.9, yet and am having no troubles. I have booted into Power, maemo and Nitdroid multiple times....

I have titan's power 40 and multiboot 0.2.9 and everything work fine.

I also reboot multiple times between Maemo, Power40 and Nitdroid and i haven't noticed any glitches or strange things..............

hi guys just saw that dj steve was able to run 3g Dataconnection with the latest nitdroid. My Question is if this is possible does that means we are able to make Phonecalls over 3g now too?

I know its still experimental and will just be realeased in some future nitdroid realease but that would be groundbreaking and amazing for all N900 users.

I've tested Nitdroid a bit and I have to say I'm impressed how far you developer guys have gotten! It feels stupid that what ever I do, I allways can rotate display if I want to and that feature is not even promised to take place in Maemo for N900... For a gadget like a phone portrait mode simply seems the natural way of doing a lot of things.

Looking forward to testing rootfs with 3G

If I'm not mistaken the problem with phone calls is gettting the UI to work with the backend to make the call.
