Hello, just wondering, how usable is NITDroid (performance wise)? Is it smooth like native Android phones? Or is it slow and laggy? Laggier than Maemo? Faster than Maemo?

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

it's usable but the phone isn't functioning so you can't make calls
but it's fast and very good

That really depends on the SD card you use. Class 4 cards seem to lag some but with my Class 6 card NITDROID runs faster then my Backflip does.

Also when you install it give it some time to perform internal optimalization. After few hours of idle time my Android was actually working very smooth (no OC)

The native 256 mb rootfs got mounted when you mounted the sdcard or the phone cd'ed to the wrong /and that happens sometimes? It happend to me once. You can easiely install and dualboot NITdroid it wont take very much rootfs space, i think it's only the kernels neaded for multiboot ;)

e: No need for flashing in this situation just do this in xterm as root if it happens again:
cd /and
rm -rf *

so can i repeat the whole process again? what can i do to avoid rootfs be mounted? :)

@gabby131 well don't know, just bad luck i guess. As i Said it only happend to me once so i think it's just some random thing and easy to fix :)

Yes you can repeat again... Repeat the step where you incountered your problem and go on from there :)

As you said the rootfs space came back when you deleted the /and folder, that would suggest the sd card had not been mounted to /and so when you extracted the tar, all the files went into a folder in your rootfs space rather than the sd card.

create the /and folder again redo the instructions and it should be fine.

Edit: please use the help thread in future. This thread should be left clean for DJ steve, Jay-c and E-yes to post important announcements. I am subscribed to the help thread so get an email when people need help and will normally pop on to help if I can.

Steve had some problems with the new release. When you boot it, it creates a black hole :p

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 & Multiboot Development And Announcement Thread

fix for flight mode is to remove the contents of the data folder then recreate the logs folder with perms of 777 - as below

assuming you have mounted nitdroid partition in maemo

Code:

cd /and/data
rm -rf *
mkdir logs
chmod 777 logs

I got it all working and so happy, pretty straight forth really.
Multiboot loads menu when keyboard out. The first option boots Maemo, as does keyboard in, second option which lists as power kernel just blinks and back to Multiboot menu as does NIT options 3 & 4. NITDroid option 5 boots Android as it should. I have tried to reinstall the power kernel though no change.
I did slightly change things as I wanted these files in a folder all together, tidier. Would this still work or my issue?

Code:
cd /home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid
wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/Jay-c/...power37.tar.gz
cd /
tar xzvf /home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid/multiboot-power37.tar.gzcd /home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid
wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/Jay-c/...power37.tar.gz
cd /
tar xzvf /home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid/multiboot-power37.tar.gz

Also, have I done something wrong and hence why NITDroid lists as options 3, 4 & 5 though only 5 loads and can I remove the non working options 3 & 4?

Stephen

It would be straight forward if the file was back on the server. The file is missing and now I can't get the power kernel working. It keeps rebooting the phone.

So I finally got it to work but when I turn on the device it only shows Android as the only boot option (which scared the living crap out of me) and only after punching random keys was I able to get into Maemo. Is there a fix for this?

No offense to the maker of the current boot screen but is there a way to change it? Preferably to the boot screen from Eclair.

Press "0" or "B" on the keyboard to boot into maemo :)

Shouldnt need to format the emmc. It is mounted by NITDroid as an SD card and should work as such without you needing to do anything.

This is not a meego thread. Try searching or asking you question on an appropriate thread.

Dude. You need to do some research first.

NITDroid is is amazing but does have 3G or phone.....YET. These guys are are working on it and doing an awesome job at it. Take some time to read the first page of this thread.

Meego is barely functional, so you will be wasting your time, and no-one on the other thread is answering your question because you evidently haven't taken the time to do some reading up.

My advice, do some Googling and searching though the Maemo forums and get up to scratch with the developments so far.

if we want to revert to original, before installing and partitioning, how do we do that?
