love the N900 for what it is. And it is a pretty fast device, considering its age.

just remember other high-end smartphone rivals from the same era. The N97, the Omnia HD, the Motorola Milestone 1 (droid), SE Satio ,etc...
All slow pieces of garbage today.

The N900 has aged pretty damn well. We should be thankfull it is still receiving regular css updates. It still surfs the web greatly and has top-notch connectivity & plenty of storage (up to 64gb)

also good photos with excellent macros.

damn... i said everything i wanted to say.


bottom line: it is still pretty fast for a 3 year old single-core device.

I agree completely (worth mentioning overclocking capabilities, very good GPS receiver, top notch physical qwerty, excellent resistive screen almost better than capacitive, etc..).

Only complaint for me would be having an adobe flash update :(

of course there complaints (more than just the flash 10 update. for example the terrible newsletters rendering on emails) but, as I said. We're talking about an old device.

Let's be happy for what we have.

*btw, N900 is the second best mp3-player I ever had (quality/loudness). Second place behind the LEGEND --> N91/8gb
honorable mentions go to N8 & 5800 as well. great mp3-players

*music is really important to me (on a smartphone)

Absolutely. The audio quality is magnificent. Not a single fart, squeak or hiss.

It's what I use my N900 for now. With the modem disabled, I can get weeks out of my N900 and I know it's to hand with shedloads of music on it. The added bonus of UPNP support just seals the deal.

Especially with Open Media player. It is amazing!

the dsp is at 600 MHz not gpu
how it's linked gpu in n900? (drivers) , the 90 MHz boost will be nice

The GPU freq. is 110 MHz and it depend from L3 bus freq.

Also wrong, DSP is at 430MHz, CPU at 600MHz, GPU at 110MHz, all by default.
