First, excuse me for possible (!) mistakes: my english may be aproximative... A root run means you are able to write in x'terminal as root, so be carefull with everything you'll do, you will be able to make serious injuries to your N900...:( To be able to write in the x-terminal as root, you have to download first the app Rootsh. When this app is on you phone, you open x-terminal on the N900 and with the command sudo gainroot you're as root... and you can use the command in step 3 on this screen: http://i21.servimg.com/u/f21/09/01/20/06/screen25.png Home/user/mypackages has to be paste here: http://i21.servimg.com/u/f21/09/01/20/06/screen19.png because when you download the 2 packages, directly with your phone, in home/user/mydocs/mypackages, not in home/user/mypackages, they're here: http://i21.servimg.com/u/f21/09/01/20/06/screen17.png I use FileBox app to see, copy and paste folder in the right place (I choose to call it Bluetooth for me, not mypackages, on the screenshots). For me, it works very well, with a Parrot MK9000i, in my car: sync is going fine everytime I change something in my contacts, when I start the car!:D And so I have now all my contacts in the car, updated, with voice dialing, voice incomming, answering, rejecting calls! Seems to doesn't work with Parrot MK6100, older than the MK9000i...:( Many many thanks for this wonderfull upgrade for our phone! I love Maemo.org!!!:p |

Small thing. When I turn on the bluetooth on my N900 during driving, my phone is not using the car speakers when i phone someone.Handsfree is not working. I can dial a number by my RNS 510, but you can only speak/hear through my N900. Can I solve this?

Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP / Carkit support is coming to N900...
thofstee,
I was wondering how you we're able to manage the connection with the RNS 510. To me this seemed to be no option looking at the lack of rsap. Please let me know? |

Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
LS,
Since 3 weeks I have a Volkswagen Passat Blue Motion with a RNS 310 system and a Bluetooth Touch Adapter. I thought that this was the solution for the sync with my contacts on my N900 :) After installing, rebooting and connecting there is still no sync possible. Are there extra steps to follow? Pierre |
Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
LS,
After deleting the existing Bluetooth paring on the N900 and the Touch adaptor and creating a new paring it all works:D Thanks guys!!! |

Hello,
The connection is now between my N900 and my radio (Alpine CDE-103BT with an inbuilt parrot module) but I have no sound! :( The radio control perfectly the N900 but there is no sound transmitted to the speakers. Could someone help a little Frenchy? :D Thank you in advance. :):):) |
Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
Anyone know if I have any chance of ever getting support for my Macrom 6555r?
The link goes well, audio is fine, everything is OK except that there is no phonebook access. Syslog shows nothing but a timeout. What other phonebook access standards are there? Anything I can try? (I already contacted manufacturer, they seem silent on the issue) |
Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
Try to delete existing pairing, reboot, and pair again after install the 2 .deb packages

I buidl a new obexd version for the obexd2 package. No real updates for the maemo pbap/irmc code but the code is updated to the latest obexd repository (0.35+). It is also build against the latest SDK (e.g. the pr1.3 sdk).
Of coarse you still need the libopenobex2 package, see the wiki page mentioned in post 1 of this thread. (I also updated the wiki to list this obexd2 version) |
Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
I thougt that my N900 worked fine with the RNS510 in my VW. My RNS 510 is connected with my N900, but when I want to phone someone the voice of the other person is not on my car speakers. The call stays on my N900 is is not send to my RNS510 system and therefore not on my speakers. I can see on the display in my car, that there is a phonecall, but the caller stays on my N900 and not on the spakers of mycar. Is there a solution for this problem. I installed the apps as described in this thread......?? I've the newest version of premium bluetooth carcit with umts.

Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
Hello,
As explained by Cevenn, you have to try to delete existing pairing (on N900 and on the car audio kit), reboot, and pair again after install the 2 .deb packages. I had the same problem as you and it has been resolved by this procedure! RG |
Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
Hi Roberto,
Do you need to do this several times? I think I did this in the past already. I'm gonna try this tomorrow. Does this also solve the problem of not synchronizing the phone book on my RNS510? greez from Holland |
Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
Hi.
For me, the first time was the only one: works great since I done it. |
Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
BerryV How did you manage to get connection at all with RNS 510 system. I get the message that my mobile (also N900) is incompatible.
|
Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
@ BramK
I've to try several times, but with some patience it connects. My problem is that I can not get my contacts from the N900 to the RNS 510. When I try this, the RNS 510 does not synchronize with the N900..... Therefore I can't phone anyone because the numbers are on my phone and not on the RNS 510.... What is going wrong? @ Roberto/Cevenn I've also deleted existing pairing (on N900 and on the car audio kit), reboot, and pair again. The 2 .deb packages are on my phone for weeks. |

Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
Ah, read the whole thread and sadly came to the same conclusion.
It's a great carkit (actually forms a transmitter itself, relieving battery stress and guaranteeing a great signal)... and a great phone. Sadly, no support to use them in combination. I had a thread about this in the beginning of the N900 coming out, this being a nokia phone, I would have hoped they would at least support their own protocols... sadly no.... Bad call Nokia. Don't build carkits with protocols no one supports (except some symbian implementations which where often broken too)..... Won't polute the thread any further. Anyone with the Premium versions of the VAG (Audio, Skoda, Seat, VW) carkit that uses rSAP is just left out. Getting it replaced is basically the only choice (or have another phone, in my case a Nokia E50 as 'carkit phone' and install the tablet mode button). Look here for a decent replacement : http://fiscon-mobile.com/products/index.php |

Downgrading to original state
Hey folks!
I want to try the latest obex library as stated in the WIKI (see first post on this thread), and the WIKI says you have to downgrade to original state if previous versions of the project are on your phone (which is the case with me). However, the call of Code:
apt-get remove openobex-appsWhat shall I do? TIA to all! |
Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
it depends on what other obex like packages you have installed in the past. If you've upgraded to pr1.3 it is probably save to install the latest packages from the wiki.
If you alreade installed a previous obexd2 package you can just upgrade to the latest obexd2 package. |
Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
I solved my problem by downloading the newest software form Nokia and depackaging the installed files again. Now everything works fine again. The RNS 510 synchronize with the N900 so I can see my contacts on the display in the car. I also hear the one I call through the speakers. Everything works fine again!!!

Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
Thanks to everyone for getting this to work!
Mercedes Audio 50 APS seems to work (I have added it to the wiki page), although I have to tell it to "Import Contacts" -- it doesn't seem to find them automatically. I may experiment some more to see if this is different with other phones. By the way, looking at the hcidump output in wireshark I noticed a bug: in some circumstances the vcard has an N: line with only one ";". This is wrong -- every N: line must always have exactly four semicolons. I haven't been able to work out what circumstances cause it -- I have some contacts which are formatted like that but I haven't been able to create any new ones which format like that. Which code creates the vcard itself? Is it part of this project or part of the N900 contacts code? Graham |
Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
Greetings!!
I might be missing the point?, but is there a simple (exe.) type of install to get this to work, or is it something that only the brave should attempt, or risk sodding up their beloved N900? |
Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
@Graham: the vcards are generated by the addressbook code of the n900. The obexd daemon requests the vcards from there and transfers them to your carkit. So if you think the N: filed is wrong, this is caused by the n900 addressbook server.
@andrew_1967: There is nothing to be brave about. The wiki (see post 1 in this thread) clearly states how to install the 2 needed packages. |
Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...
Hello again.
I must be the dumbest guy on here! I've checked your "Wiki" and to be frank, it went straight over my head. I have placed the two files in a folder in the phones memory, but if I search using file manager, when I access either file, I get a message saying that the file can not be installed due to an "incompatible application package" I'm sorry to sound dumb, but can anyone help using plain english for those of us not quite so swithed on please. I.E. can this be done through Nokia PC Suite mode, or do I select "Mass Storage" What the heck is "Root Run"? and how do I know if I have installed whatever needs installing, where it should be installed? God I Feel Old!!!!!! Here's hoping! Kind regards. Andrew. |
Re: [Announce] Bluetooth PBAP and IrMC / Carkit support is coming to N900...

Sorry for my english...:o Root run means you're boot as Root, as system admin. You'll need to install rootsh before: be carefull, you'll be able to do "everything" in your N900...:D To place the 2 .deb in a folder, you can use the app Filebox, with more access (you can be "root") than the original file manager, or you can use "Winscp" on your computer with "Open ssh" installed on your phone, for exemple, with wifi connexion. If it's well done, your phone contact list will sync with your carkit everytime they'll connect together. Hope you'll understand everything! And don't feel old, I'm from 1966...:D;) |
