Re: Would You Buy Nokia Phone as Your Next Mobile ?
If it's all the same to you, can I just blame Nokia for that anyway? ;)

Third-party software companies want to see stability and long-term commitment from an OS. Why develop software for an environment that is going to change every couple of years and will mean rewriting/modifying your software? It's an added expense of developing your software. For years older versions of MacOS had backwards compatible software. Same thing with Windows (ok maybe bad example!) Windows mobile at 6.5 and older could run software for previous versions of the OS. Palm OS 5 could run software for previous versions too. Symbian has backwards compatibility also. iPhone is also backwards compatible. All these systems have a healthy catalogue of applications and is why there were/are so successfull. Nokia should realise this with the Symbian platform. Maemo and MeeGo (on handsets) will continue to be a minority, in the long run suffer from lack of apps and lack of interest from third-party developers. As a user I would have to buy a new version of the software everytime a new OS was released. Who in their right mind will buy commercial software for their device knowing it will probably mean it will stop working after upgrading to a new device? The n900 is a great device and no other manufacturer can offer anything as good as it because of it's flexibility of the OS. But Nokia have decided to start all over again! |

Like some, I don't expect the exact same things from the companys I buy from. Even though I can impulse buy with the best of 'em, I generally try to know what I'm getting into. Sh*t, I bought the n900 through the DDP and I knew full well they weren't giving me a warranty. I'd be lying if I said it didn't take me a few weeks to make that decision, but the price and product were right. I'm very, very happy with the n900, and it gets better every day. I'm also an Apple customer; I might actually pull the trigger on a new Mac Mini when I'm done writing this. And like my other Apple products, I'll expect it to just work. If it doesn't, I'll walk it across the street. Literally. Nokia isn't Apple. Thank God. Apple isn't Nokia. Thank God. Not sure, but I hope I answered your question. |

Evolution doesn't mean what some people in this thread thinks it means.

This is not evolution. Maemo has not evolved, it has been killed. The N900 has not evolved, it will (presumably) be replaced with something else, something very different, and the "N900 lineage" is killed. |
Re: Would You Buy Nokia Phone as Your Next Mobile ?
I would if the device is a capacitive Meego with 1.2Ghz or dual core A9 cpu + gpu and atleast 756MB RAM (not swap), and 12MP camera + optical zoom, xeon flash and 32GB memory :D
Oh must have keyboard and slim. Front facing camera have to be 2MP, Wireless N support, HDMi, usb OTG good battery life, atleast 3.5" LCD. 1080p play back and capture :D Then I will buy it on the release date!! |
