Interesting. If I run it WITH sudo but WITHOUT run-standalone I lose the Fremantle theme and get nasty warnings in the console. Does anyone else have this or did I just hack my N900 beyond redemption (=ready to reflash).

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tweak Flash Version
if i.. it hags... and wit this it works sudo /usr/bin/tweakflashver
up above EDIT: Looks like its working to me (it looks like that because were runing it root... i think why. it dose the same with cute explore) |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tweak Flash Version
@Attila77
problem is that run-standalone.sh is not in sudoers. replacing the symlink /usr/bin/tweakflashver with this script: Code:
#!/bin/shCode:
[Desktop Entry]edit: lost a # |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tweak Flash Version
I uploaded an update that puts the app in the proper section (utilities) and contains mece's sudo startup trick (many thanks for the tip !) - let me know if this release fixes sudo/startup crash issues for you. Should appear in extras-devel in a couple of minutes.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tweak Flash Version
English is (obviously :) ) not my native language so I find it a bit difficult to decide... but if there is a consensus that "Fake Flash Version" describes the functionality better, I don't mind changing it.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tweak Flash Version
Adjust, Tweak, Modify, Adapt, Fake, Switch, Falsify... all are good and discribe what is been done. Your choice of name "Tweak" told me what was been done, your app is now known with the name is has. I would leave it as is.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tweak Flash Version
Forgot to add - would appreciate if someone came up with a good icon for it, the current one is a duplicate of FlashLauncher, and that one wasn’t all that descriptive in the first place.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tweak Flash Version
Found this on a google search, not sure on the copyright stuff. Looks cool though.

on that note i have considered making an app called "really cool app!!!" or "download this!!!" (they like exclamation marks these kinda people!!!) and filling the description with "this applications sole purpose is to completely and irrevocably brick your n900 upon installation, only reccommended if your last remaining use for your n900 is as a doorstop or projectile weapon." obviously o wouldn't upload a virus etc, just a hello world with "u are a complete spoon" or something, just to see how many people will actually install it. |

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tweak Flash Version
Attila77 WHAT HAVE YOU DONE :P
Just keep in mind all the flash websites that trying internally recognize your TRUE flash player version will fail (included my Flaemo project that I am still working on and Device manager is the most important part of it in order to recognize your device and launch proper version) You could use Attila77 Flash Launcher and set swf file as source and you could avoid invalid HTML tag that required 10 even if doesn't. So list of the websites you can see using that and you couldn't before using Flash Launcher or just calling file.swf is presented below: :D Attila77 you are owe me Flaemo launcher :P |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tweak Flash Version
Hey, could anyone tell me the risk of using this?
I know about extras-devel and how it can brick xD but reading about how it backs up the old version, I am thinking about giving it a try. If unsuccesfull or very unstable, how to restore to original flash settings? Ty in advance, amazing project! |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tweak Flash Version
It’s fairly brick-proof, and it really tries to double-check everything before committing to touching system files. You can always return to the original version by choosing it from the available versions option.
PS If you wait a few hours, you’ll get a version that has real restore built-in. |

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tweak Flash Version
This ia a good initiative, but unfortunately, today I tried (first flash based thing that I could think of) the southpark site and the shows didn't load.
I'm afraid nokia needs to seriously consider if it will support N900 or not. I'm not willing to start all over again with there I was last winter - a fresh OS with almost no apps, nor am I willing to wait for a flimsy community support based Meego. If there's no way of somehow bringing/dumping (or even officially supporting) flash from a meego image on the N900, N900 will be my last Nokia/meego/symbian/or anything else spawned by nokia ever. I sure hope someone at nokia realizes the disappointment they're causing or I'll have to place nokia, (together with sony) on my "never buy anything from them again" list. |

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tweak Flash Version
hi!
got a small problem last night while streaming on youtube, as the video loads after 30 secs, the browser (micro B) keeps refreshing, it keeps doing it that its impossible for me to finish watching a 3 min video. i have not tried Tweak Flasher yet and i do not claim that the problem is because of tweak Flash. just cant find a specific thread (or right thread) to post this. NOTE: a reboot fixed the problem, i just wonder why this happened for the 2nd time to me. |

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tweak Flash Version
how and where do i get this Tweak flash version, i just dont understand what i have to do. my facebook videos do not load, they need the latest version of flash player, will tweak solve my problem?
|
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tweak Flash Version
The thing is, facebook does not need the latest flash, it intentionally shuts you out, even though all the necessary functionality is there. This app works around that.
The app should be avaiable through the Application Manager (note it has just been promoted, so depending on caches, etc it might take a few minutes/hours before everybody sees it around the globe). Start it, pick the recommended version of Flash and tap "change". That's all there is to it. |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tweak Flash Version
im getting an "unable to create backup" error, what should i do to fix this? any ideas?
