I think it is a problem with your back cover. Camera switch works from there. And in order for the microsd to be detected, the back cover has a small magnet so that the phone knows when it is in place. Basically if the back cover isn't working well, microsd will not be detected.

I had same issue, there is a small magnet that holds down the kickstand when it is shut, if this is lost, the kickstand becomes a little bit loose.

It also seems to stop the camera auto coming on if you open the lens cover. Check to see if its gone, if it has, that is what it is.
