Fencer's solution is the easiest if you have some usb flash media and another pc where you can install unetbootin.

Does safe mode boot? you could download Unetbootin windows version and install on the 2GB memory you have.

I am not a total n00b. No of couse safe mode does not boot. If I had a working PC there would be no problem for me, I even had a usb stick formated to boot windows 7. But now I have only my N900 and wifi. :(

Find a N900 user in Greece and ask them for a bootable USB?

Try doing a manual Iso install? Could take a while though.

Edit: Cool, i had a look again and the files are still there actually! :cool:

Just tell me if you want a tar of the pxe server - i can put it on a server for you. It has FreeBSD 8.0, a pre final version of Ubuntu 10.04, memtest and clonezilla included. You would have to extract a newer ubuntu iso into the pxe root and fire up dnsmasq as dhcp and tftp daemon.
This is very interesting - if OP isn''t interested can you maybe do a little "how to" post?
